Shahid Afridi pulls out of CPL following knee injury

Yash Fadte upsets Agarwal to enter semis

Teenager Yash Fadte of Goa stunned third seed Abhishek Agarwal in a long-drawn tie to enter the semi finals of the 43rd Maharashtra State Men's Squash tournament today. The 16-year-old Fadte had an easy start in the quarter final clash as he won the first game 11-2, but Abhishek was quick to make a comeback and took the second game 11-4. Fadte bounced back with a 11-7 victory in the third game, but the teenager was not able to maintain consistency and lost the penultimate game 9-11. With the match tied at 2-all, it was anyone's match. However, Fadte, who came into the tournament with a string of successes kept his wits and clinched the decider 11-8 to advance to the last four for a face-off against top seed Mahesh Mangaonkar. Mangoankar eased into the semis, making few mistakes on his way to a 11-7, 11-5, 11-2 victory over Vijay Kumar of Chennai. Ex-400m world champion Nicholas Bett dies

Former 400m hurdles world champion Nicholas Bett of Kenya died in a car accident on Tuesday. He was 28.The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) took to their official Twitter handle and expressed condolence over the sudden demise of the athlete."The IAAF is deeply saddened and shocked to hear that Kenya's 2015 world 400m hurdles champion Nicholas Bett, 28, died in a car accident on Tuesday (7). RIP," the IAAF wrote.Bett, who was initially inclined towards volleyball, stunned the athletics world by clinching gold in 2015 IAAF World Championship in Beijing. He set a Kenyan record of 47.79 which was the fastest time in the world that year.Earlier this year, Bett participated in the Commonwealth Games in Australia where he finished at the eighth spot in the 400m hurdles.

Football Delhi signs three-year partnership contract with JSW Sports

Football Delhi today signed a partnership contract with JSW Sports for the development of the game in the Capital. As part of the deal, JSW Sports will be the principal partner of Football Delhi, the governing body for the sport in the Capital, for the next three years. The partnership was jointly announced by Football Delhi president Shaji Prabhakaran and JSW Sports director Parth Jindal. As part of the deal, JSW Sports will fund the salaries of the Football Delhi administrative staff and other support staff. FIDE Master V S Rathanvel scored a sensational victory over top rated Grandmaster Le Quang Liem of Vietnam in the first round of Abu Dhabi Masters chess tournament that got underway here today. Anirban Lahiri will achieve a coveted landmark when he plays in his 15th Majors at the PGA Championship, surpassing Jeev Milkha Singh's previous Indian record of 14.
