Azarenka breezes into the second round of Montreal event
Former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, who was playing for first time since retiring in the San Jose quarter-finals, kicked off her WTA Montreal tournament by dismissing Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets. Azarenka punched her ticket to the second round with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory in just 55 minutes over the former world number 10. "I feel better," she said. "It was definitely pretty bad in San Jose to have such a sudden thing with my back. In a dismal start for country at the inaugural Junior NBA World Championships, the Indian boys and girls teams lost their respective pool matches on the opening day of the Under-13 and Under-14 basketball tournament, here. The Indian girls, representing the city of Bengaluru, were hammered 11-57 and 28-75 by Asia Pacific and Europe respectively in their two pool matches of the international category at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex inside the Walt Disney Resort. T10 League gets ICC sanction
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially sanctioned the second season of T10 League to be held from November 23, in Sharjah, announced the T10 League organisers on Tuesday.The cricket apex body's validation comes as a boost for the league that will have two new teams making them to a strong eight teams and a ten-day long season. From a 50-over game to 10-over game, T10 League is the evolution of cricket.The ICC, last season, had approved the organisers of running the first 10 overs format league in the world. The Maharashtra team won the Championship trophy in the 5th Senior National Pickleball Tournament held in Bengaluru from August 3 to 5. Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis. Maharashtra had also won the Championship trophy in 2015 and 2016 held at Panipat and Jaipur, respectively, All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) secretary Sunil Valavalkar was quoted as saying in a media release. MCC concerned over slowing over rates; idea of shot clock, run-penalty mooted
Armed with statistical analysis from the ICC that over rates in both Test and T20 cricket have slowed down in the past year, the MCC World Cricket Committee today expressed concern over the pace of play across the three formats. Stan Kroenke moved to the brink of a full takeover of Arsenal today after minority shareholder Alisher Usmanov accepted an offer worth ?550 million ($712 million) for his stake.
