Australia name ex-England bowling coach Cooley for Ashes tour
Australia on Monday appointed ex-England bowling coach Troy Cooley for their upcoming Ashes series as they bid to win the urn on away soil for the first time in 18 years. Meanwhile Adam Griffith, a former head coach of Tasmania and assistant to national coach Justin Langer at the Western Warriors, takes charge of the bowlers for the team's World Cup campaign in England. Their appointments follow the departure of another former England bowling coach, David Saker, who quit in February. Tasmanian Cooley is credited as being a key figure in helping England break their Ashes drought on home soil in 2005. He recently coached Australia's one-day bowlers for an away series win against India and is currently with the squad in the United Arab Emirates for their limited-overs clashes against Pakistan. Sheeraz best-placed Indian in men's skeet, Kimberly Rhode wins women's event
Sheeraz Sheikh was the best-placed Indian with a score of 48 out of 50 in the men's skeet event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico. In the women's event, American legend Kimberly Rhode nailed her sixth ISSF World Cup stage gold over the last two years on Sunday. Sheeraz was placed 22nd in the pecking order on count-back with 14 others in a field of 95, shooting the same score. Four, including world champion Vincent Hancock of the USA, shot a perfect 50 while 12 others missed one bird each. Two other Indians in the field Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa shot 44 and 43 to be placed 74th and 86th respectively, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) stated in a press release. Cricket Australia has appointed bowling coaches for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup and the Ashes series.Adam Griffith has been appointed the team's assistant coach for the World Cup, whereas Troy Cooley has been made the side's assistant coach for the Ashes series in England.Griffith, having retired in 2011, has worked his way up in the coaching rankings. Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson has dislocated his shoulder and will head home from the Pakistan tour, officials said, as he faces a battle to be fit for the World Cup. Richardson took 2-16 in the second one-dayer in Sharjah on Sunday but fell awkwardly on his bowling arm and left the field in the 11th over. "Unfortunately it's a dislocated shoulder for Jhye Richardson," Cricket Australia tweeted. Cameron was defeated eight votes to four by Ricky Skerritt, a former West Indies team manager in a ballot conducted in Kingston, Jamaica on Sunday.
