FC Goa opened a three point lead at the top of the Indian Super League after they beat Kerala Blasters 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Sunday. A Ferran Corominas double and a strike by Manvir Singh were enough for FC Goa to pick yet another three points as they are now the first team this season to score over 20 goals. Kerala Blasters pulled one back late in the game through Nikola Krcmarevic. The home side head coach David James named an all-Indian defence for the very first time with Anas Edathodika making his first start of the season. Meanwhile, Sergio Lobera opted to rest Hugo Boumous with Brandon Fernandes earning a spot in his line-up after a goal in the previous game. It took 11 minutes for the visitors to take the lead. Coro scored his seventh goal as he got on the end of a Ahmed Jahouh cross to head home as the Kerala defence was caught napping. Lahiri blazes front nine, but slips to still stay in Top-10 in Mexico

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri slipped but stayed inside Top-10 at the end of the third round of the OHL Mayakoba Classic after 54 holes here on Sunday. Lahiri, who was T-3 after the second round, shot two-under 69 to be T-8 at 13-under. This was the third year in a row that Lahiri had shot his first three rounds in the 60s and his best here has been T-14 last year. The year before that he was T-28. The way Lahiri began, it seemed he would tear into the opposition. With five birdies in first eight holes, he even tied for the lead with Matt Kuchar at one stage. But on the back nine, a double bogey after taking a penalty on 14th and then another bogey on 16th pushed him down and he finished the day at two-under and 13-under for 54 holes. "This course suits my eye and there are lot of birdies. After a superb start on front nine, it was disappointing to give away so much on the back nine," Lahiri said. Kuchar, looking for his first win since 2014, continued his excellent form with a 65 in ..

Pakistan score 133 for 7 against India in ICC Women's World T20

Indian bowlers pinned Pakistan down for most part of their innings before allowing them to wriggle out for 133 for 7 in their ICC Women's World T20 match here Sunday. Opting to field after winning the toss, India made a great start with the ball, reducing Pakistan to 30 for 3 in the seventh over. Pakistan made a fine recovery thanks to half centuries from Bismah Maroof (53) and Nida Dar (52) as the duo stitched 93 runs for the fourth wicket to take their side to a competitive total. India also dropped at least three easy catches, which allowed Pakistan to come back into the Group B match. Opening bowler Arundhati Reddy immediately gave India the breakthrough by having Ayesha Zafar caught at the slips by Veda Krishnamurthy for nought in the final delivery of the first over. Pakistan were yet to open account then and they could have been in a worse situation had Smriti Mandhana not dropped captain Javeria Khan in the third over. Sharma finishes creditable T-27; Westwood wins title after four years

India's Shubhankar Sharma produced a fine round of four-under 68 to finish a creditable T-27th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge here on Sunday. Shubhankar, who struggled the first two days with 74-75, shot 71-68 on the weekend to total even par 288 and finish in Top-30. The finish, especially with the last two rounds, should fire up Shubhankar before the DP World Tour Championships next week. This finish was his second best since the first week of July, when he was T-27th in the Open de France. Since then his only result better than that was T-10 at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia. Shubhankar after being even par for the first nine holes on the back stretch of the course, was on a birdie spree on back nine when he had four birdies in five holes between second and sixth holes. Meanwhile, Lee Westwood produced a stunning closing 64 to win his first Rolex Series title at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Hari finishes second, Nakamura reigns supreme

India's Pentala Harikrishna secured two wins on the last day but could only finish second, half a point behind Japanese-American wizard Hikaru Nakamura who lived up to his top billing to clinch the Tata Steel Chess India Rapid tournament here Sunday. There was heartbreak for reigning world rapid champion Viswanathan Anand who lost to local challenger and his former second Surya Sekhar Ganguly in the final round to finish seventh with eight draws and one loss. Indian prodigy Nihal Sarin had a creditable draw against the five-time former world champion Anand and finished ninth with three points -- six draws and three losses. "It was my first super tournament and I think the result is not bad with six draws from nine games," Sarin, the soft-spoken 14-year-old from Thrissur, said. Facing Anand for the first time in a tournament, Ganguly opted for the solid Caro-Kann defence against the King pawn opening. But, the game took an aggressive turn when Ganguly went for the initiative and ...

Pooran's 53 takes West Indies to 181-3 against India in 3rd T20I

Left-handed batsman Nicholas Pooran's quick-fire half-century powered West Indies to a competitive 181 for 3 in the third and final T20 International against India here on Sunday. Pooran blasted four boundaries and as many sixes in his 25-ball unbeaten innings. His blistering 87-run unbeaten partnership in 43 balls with fellow southpaw Darren Bravo (43 off 37 balls) enabled the team move from 94 for 3 to 181 in the allotted 20 overs. Reeling after two crushing defeats, the West Indies showed the stomach to fight as they batted with a lot more purpose at the M A Chidambaram stadium here. Pooran, who has been on the fringes for a while and did well in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), showed why he is rated highly, batting with a lot of enterprise. He wasn't afraid to go for his shots and also employed the switch-hit on a few occasions, including hammering a six off Chahal. Bravo offered him great support and hit a couple of big sixers of his own. Chahal, who got a lot of turn off the

Sri Lanka's Dananjaya reported for suspicious action

Sri Lanka off-spinner Akila Dananjaya was reported over a suspect bowling action during the first Test which England won by 211 runs, the International Cricket Council said Sunday. "Dananjaya's bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is," the governing body of the sport said in a statement. Dananjaya, 25, took two wickets giving away 184 runs in the match that concluded in four days at Galle on Friday.
