India-France defence industrial roadmap; Tata, Airbus sign helicopter deal

India and France on Friday unveiled ambitious defence industrial roadmap to co-develop critical military hardware, firmed up a space situational awareness programme even as the Tata Group and Airbus announced to jointly build H125 helicopters following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, announcing the outcomes of Thursday's Modi-Macron talks in Jaipur, said a scheme for exchange of professionals in the age bracket of 18 to 35 years and activation of Schengen visas with a five-year validity for Indian postgraduate alumni alumni of French institutions were among other key decisions. The two sides inked a total of nine agreements that would provide for cooperation in a large number of areas including defence-space partnership, satellite launches boosting engagement in the healthcare sector and scientific research. Mumbai Marathon: 74-year-old participant among two dead; 22 hospitalised

Two participants, including a 74-year-old man, collapsed and died during the annual TATA Mumbai Marathon, which was held here on Sunday, a police official said. According to the police official, 22 persons who took part in the running event were hospitalised for dehydration and other reasons. The deceased participants were identified as Suvradeep Banerjee (40) from Kolkata and Rajendra Bora (74) from Mumbai. Banerjee, a seasoned full marathoner and software engineer, collapsed near the Haji Ali Junction, while Bora slumped to the road near a petrol pump close to a popular pizza joint opposite Marine Drive, the official added.

HC sends summons to TATA SIA Airlines on minor's plea for Rs 2.5 cr damages

The Delhi High Court has issued summons to TATA SIA Airlines, which operates Vistara, on a plea by a minor and her parents seeking more than Rs 2.5 crore damages for bodily injuries the child suffered after a hot beverage was allegedly spilled on her by a flight attendant. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani said summons be sent to the defendant, TATA SIA Airlines Ltd, which is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, by all permissible modes and it shall file a written statement along with an affidavit of admission or denial of the documents filed by the plaintiffs within 30 days. "Upon a prima facie conspectus of the matter, let the plaint be registered as a suit. Issue summons in the suit," the court said. Airbus signs agreement with Tata, Mahindra for aircraft components

Airbus on Thursday said it has signed contracts with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Mahindra Aerospace Structures Private Limited (MASPL) to procure commercial aircraft components. Under the contract, TASL and Mahindra Aerostructures will manufacture metallic detail parts, components and assemblies for Airbus' A320neo, A330neo and A350 programmes, a press release from Airbus said. The two companies are already among more than 100 India-based suppliers that provide components and engineering and digital services for various Airbus programmes. Tata Motors commences production at Sanand plant it acquired from Ford

Tata Motors on Friday said it has commenced production at its new production facility at Sanand in Gujarat. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, a unit of Tata Motors, had acquired the facility from Ford India for Rs 725.7 crore in January last year. "We have successfully retooled the factory in the shortest span of 12 months, taking it to a new level to accommodate a wide range of existing products and future new models to come," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) MD Shailesh Chandra said in a statement. The facility will play a pivotal role in steering Tata Motors, especially TPEM, towards achieving newer feats, he added. "With existing capacities near saturation, this new facility will unlock an additional manufacturing capacity of 3 lakh units per annum which is scalable to 4.2 lakh units per annum," Chandra said. NCLT sanctions merger of Tata Metaliks into its parent Tata Steel

The National Company Law Tribunal has sanctioned the amalgamation of Tata Metaliks Ltd into its parent Tata Steel, which led to the cancellation of board meeting ahead of financial results announcement of the subsidiary firm. According to a regulatory filing by Tata Metaliks, the board meeting, scheduled for January 12, to declare company's financial results has been cancelled. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Mumbai on Thursday pronounced the order sanctioning the scheme of amalgamation amongst Tata Metaliks into parent Tata Steel Ltd, the company said. "With the pronouncement of the order...the financial results of Tata Metaliks for the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2023, shall be considered along with the financial results of Tata Steel," the filing said. Shares of Tata Metaliks were trading 0.96 per cent higher at Rs 1,067.55 apiece on the BSE.
