Scientists have developed an innovative, transparent eel-like robot that can swim silently in salt water without an electric motor. The robot created by engineers and marine biologists at the University of California in the US uses artificial muscles filled with water to propel itself. The foot-long robot, which is connected to an electronics board that remains on the surface, is also virtually transparent. The bot, described in the journal Science Robotics, is an important step towards a future when soft robots can swim in the ocean alongside fish and invertebrates without disturbing or harming them. Image and video sharing platform Snapchat announced the launch of 'Snappables', a new range of Lenses for sharing experiences and playing augmented reality (AR) games."Today, we're introducing Snappables - new Lenses for playing augmented reality games with your friends! Google ramps up Gmail privacy controls in major update
Google today ramped up privacy controls in a Gmail overhaul, aiming first at businesses that use its suite of workplace tools hosted in the internet cloud. The "all new" Gmail is available to the more than four million businesses that pay for G Suite services. People who use the email service personally for free can opt in by making the choice in settings, vice president of product management David Thacker said in a blog post. The Indian economy is estimated to have suffered a loss of USD 3 billion due to Internet shutdown in the country from 2012-17, according to a study by ICRIER. The study observed impact of Internet shutdown across various devices and ecosystem linked to them. "A total of 16,315 hours of Internet shutdown in India cost the economy approximately USD 3.04 billion during the period 2012 to 2017," ICRIER director and chief executive Rajat Kathuria said today. The tool, which is also being tested in Canada, follows a scandal involving the political consultant Cambridge Analytica that has stoked concerns about privacy on the social network.
