Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday inaugurated the Andhra Pradesh Cyber Security Operations Center (APCSOC) in Amaravati.APCSOC is an initiative of the state Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (IT and E&C) ministry."The Center will combat cyber security threats and provide real time intelligence sharing and threat analysis to all state government departments and entities," Naidu said in a statement."At the heart of the security operations center (SOC), is a blended security analytics platform that ingests, correlates and analyses massive amounts of data. Careem, a Dubai-based ride-hailing app which has left behind its rival Uber in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in Pakistan and other middle eastern countries, today warned its users that their personal data had been compromised in a massive cyber-security breach. In a statement, it confirmed that sensitive information like customers' names, their email addresses, their phone numbers and their trip history data (pick-up and drop-off points) has been stolen by the hackers, but said, "there is no evidence that your password or credit card number has been compromised". "Customers' credit card information is kept on an external third-party PCP-compliant server," Careem claimed and said that the breach affects all customers and captains who signed up for the service before January 14, 2018. Careem, a ride-hailing app and rival of Uber in the Middle East, said today it was the victim of a cyber attack that compromised the data of its clients and employees. The company said in a message to customers that the attack was detected on January 14, at a time when the app had 14 million users in the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey, according to the economic news website Arabian Business. "We became aware that online criminals gained access to our computer systems which hold customer and captain account data. Customers and captains who have signed up with us since that date (January 14) are not affected," it said. Careem, which was founded in Dubai in 2012, stressed it had "seen no evidence of fraud or misuse related to this incident" and vowed to strengthen the network's security.
