Telecom secretary K Rajaraman on Friday appealed to industry players to set aside their petty differences and work in collaboration for innovation. While speaking at the National Workshop on Enhancing Indian Participation in Telecom Global Standards Bodies, Rajaraman said that India needs to follow the path of frugal innovation as the company has limited resources. "We can extract far more outcome than what we are doing even now if we are able to put our heads and heart together. It is very important to set aside petty differences, put in place some framework for collaboration," he said. Rajaraman said India needs to do a lot of things to become a major producer of technology. He said that India is not a country that can afford to throw away tens and hundreds of billions of dollars as many other countries are doing. "Like in the case of America. America has borrowed tens of trillions of dollars in the world market and it is making available hundreds of billions of dollars to its .

India should aspire for a 10 per cent share in global 6G patents by 2030, Union minister for IT and telecom Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Monday. While launching Bharat 6G alliance, Vaishnaw said that the foreign direct investment in the country's telecom sector has reached close to USD 24 billion between 2014 and 2023. The minister said Bharat 6G Alliance -- a forum for development of 6G technology -- will provide opportunities for filing more intellectual property rights for 5G advance technologies and as the world moves towards 6G, there will be more and more institutions and companies working together in India to file more intellectual property rights (IPRs) for 6G. "We should keep a minimum target of 10 per cent of 6G IPRs from India by the time we reach 2029 or 2030," Vaishnaw said. India will not see a monopoly or duopoly in the telecom sector with state-owned BSNL emerging as a 'very stable' player, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said. Speaking at the Express Adda on Saturday, he allayed concerns of a duopoly emerging in the market with weakening financials and dropping market share of Vodafone Idea Ltd. "No, we are not heading towards a monopoly. Even a duopoly will not be there. BSNL is coming up as a very stable player in the market," he said when asked whether the state of affairs in Vodafone Idea and the current financial struggles faced by Airtel would leave Reliance Jio the single dominant mobile telephony player. The telecom market currently has three private players - billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Ltd. Jio's disruptive entry has helped it to become the largest operator in the country and it is now leading the 5G rollout.
