Magicpin starts selling tomatoes for Rs 70 per kg through ONDC partners

Hyperlocal e-commerce startup magicpin in a pact with NCCF has started selling tomatoes for Rs 70 per kilogram through select online platforms registered on the government-backed ONDC, the company said on Friday. Consumers can order tomatoes through magicpin app, Paytm, PhonePe's Pincode, Mystore in Delhi-NCR and select few cities under the arrangement, it said in a statement. "We have witnessed an overwhelming response, delivering 1,000 orders across over 90 pincodes in Delhi-NCR in just 2 days. NCCF and ONDC's initiative aims to stand with the consumers during challenging times," magicpin CEO and Co-Founder Anshoo Sharma said. Paytm E-commerce Pvt Ltd (PEPL) on Tuesday said it has partnered with ONDC and NCCF to sell tomatoes at Rs 70 per kg in Delhi-NCR. On behalf of the central government, co-operatives National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) and NAFED are already selling tomatoes at Rs 70 per kg to retail consumers through mobile vans in Delhi-NCR and a few select cities. In a statement, PEPL said it will sell "tomatoes (at) Rs 70 per kilogram through National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) for users in Delhi-NCR on Paytm ONDC." With this, users can only buy two kgs of tomatoes at Rs 140 per week with free delivery through ONDC on the Paytm app. This move will benefit the users as retail prices of tomatoes in some cities have crossed Rs 200 per kg, the statement said. Tomato prices in the retail markets of the national capital declined to an average Rs 150 per kg on Monday from Rs 178 per kg on Sunday, according to the government data. National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) will kick start from Friday sale of tomatoes via mobile vans in Delhi-NCR at a discounted rate of Rs 90 per kg to provide relief to consumers, top government officials said on Thursday. In Noida, tomatoes will be sold at the NCCF office located at Rajnigandha Chowk and also through mobile vans in Greater Noida and other locations, they said. The cooperative will start sales in other cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur and Jaipur during the weekend, they added.
