Torrent acquires Nabha Power from L&T, completes ₹3,632 crore deal

Torrent Power on Thursday said that it has completed the acquisition of 100 per cent equity stake in Nabha Power Ltd (NPL) from L&T Power Development Ltd for Rs 3,632.35 crore. Earlier this year, the company informed the bourses regarding the execution of a Securities Purchase Agreement to acquire 100 per cent of the equity stake and convertible instruments of NPL and receipt of approval from the Competition Commission of India for the said acquisition. According to a regulatory filing, the company has completed the acquisition of 100 per cent equity shares and convertible instruments of NPL from L&T Power Development Ltd (L&T) at a total consideration of Rs 3,632.35 crore, consequent to closing adjustments. Fair trade regulator Competition Commission of India has cleared Torrent Power's proposal to acquire 100 per cent stake in Nabha Power Ltd. The move came after Torrent Power, in February 2026, said it entered into an agreement with L&T Power Development to acquire 100 per cent equity stakes in Nabha Power for an enterprise value of Rs 6,889 crore. "The proposed combination entails the acquisition of 100 per cent equity shares and non-cumulative optionally convertible redeemable preference shares (on a fully diluted basis) in Nabha Power Ltd by Torrent Power Ltd from L&T Power Development Ltd," the regulator said in a release on Tuesday. Torrent Group's philanthropic arm, UNM Foundation, has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with six civic bodies for the maintenance of 69 lakes across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts, covering over 2 million square metres.
