The Uttar Pradesh government has withdrawn the 'Y-category' security cover provided to senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, saying it was not needed. Rampur Additional Superintendent of Police Sansar Singh said they received a letter from the security headquarters in Lucknow, which said there is no need to provide the Y-category security to Khan, a 10-time MLA from Rampur. In compliance with the order, his security was withdrawn, he added. Singh said under the Y-category security, Khan was given three gunmen and security personnel who were posted at his residence round the clock. All the security personnel (posted with Azam) have been called back to the police Lines in Rampur, he said. Khan had won the Rampur assembly seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh polls for a record 10th time. After becoming the MLA, he had resigned from the Lok Sabha. UP govt to organise mega e-auction to allot industrial plots: Officials

With a view to allotting plots for industrial projects on a large scale, the Uttar Pradesh government will organise a mega e-auction on Thursday, officials said. The online auction would be held from 10 am for industrial plots in Lucknow, Kanpur, Trans Delhi Signature City, Ayodhya, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur and Aligarh, they said. A total of 154 industrial plots, 3 group housing, one nursing home, 8 plots for warehouse and others will be put up for the auction. The e-auction is being organised by Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Department (UPSIDA), they said. For participation in this mega bidding process, depositing fees including application, catalogue downloading, document filing and downloading has already been completed through online medium. Not only this, the base pricing of all these proposed plots and rented halls has also been fixed to facilitate bidding process. UP to become first state to have 18 'safe cities': CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said Uttar Pradesh will be the first state in the country to have 18 'safe cities', providing a conducive environment for the safety and development of every resident of the state, according to a statement. "All the 17 Municipal Corporations and Gautam Budh Nagar should be developed as 'Safe Cities' in the first phase in next three months Manage finance for this through inter-departmental coordination," Adityanath said during a review meeting here. 'Sikkim tops northeast, UP among bigger states in grievance redressal'

Sikkim has topped the northeastern states in addressing public complaints, followed by Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the Centre said on Tuesday. The ranking was made in the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) monthly report, released by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) under the Personnel Ministry, for states for June 2023. "Government of Sikkim tops the ranking among the northeastern states with a score of 66.70 per cent, followed by the government of Assam with a score of 57.45 per cent and government of Arunachal Pradesh with a score of 52.30 per cent. "Sikkim has disposed of 173 grievances with an average closing time of 43 days from January to June 2023," it said. UP govt planning to establish waterways on 8 rivers for public transport

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to use eight rivers as inland waterways to improve connectivity and transportation of goods, especially bulk cargo such as foodgrains and fertilisers. Senior state government officials said the Yamuna, Gomti, Assi, Ghaghra, Rapti Betwa, Chambal and the Varuna rivers will be used as waterways to transport goods and people. The move is in line with the BJP-led Centre's Maritime India Vision 2030 that envisages increasing the share of inland water transport to five per cent by 2030. Four people were arrested from Haryana's Ambala district on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the attack on Aazad. They were apprehended in a joint operation by the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh police, Haryana Special Task Force Deputy Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar said. Aazad was shot at by car-borne assailants in Deoband on Wednesday evening. He suffered an injury as one of the bullets grazed his waist. He was discharged from the district hospital in Saharanpur on Thursday.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved investment proposals worth about Rs 36 lakh crore that emerged out of a memorandum of understanding signed during the state's investor summit a year ago, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Sunday. During his speech at an inaugural function of the Rs 200 crore-robot manufacturing plant of Reliance group firm Addverb, the chief minister said for the first time, the state has received investment proposals for all 75 districts and a maximum number of proposals have come for Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
