Uttar Pradesh govt launches campaign to empower underprivileged girls

Uttar Pradesh government has launched a campaign to empower girls from the underprivileged class, an official said on Sunday. According to a statement, the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan will work under the Aarohini Initiative Training Programme for the safety and security of girls in 746 Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools in the state. Director General of School Education Vijay Kiran Anand said the main objective of the Aarohini programme, which will be implemented in three phases, is gender sensitisation. In the first phase, which will start on February 1, teachers will be trained. Two teachers of every Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls' School will receive the training, who will then educate the students of their respective schools, the statement said. Along with the teachers, the institution will also groom the girls through debates and other activities, it added.

Gujarat firms sign 22 MoUs entailing investments worth Rs 40,000 cr in UP

A total of 22 corporate entities from Gujarat have promised to invest Rs 40,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, which would create 50,000 direct as well as indirect employment opportunities, a senior official from the country's most populous state said on Friday. These 22 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) amounting to Rs 40,000 crore were signed during the B2G meetings and roadshows organised by the Yogi Adityanath's government here on Friday, Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary in UP's Sports and Youth Welfare department, said here on Friday. The roadshows and meets were organised here in the run up to UP Global Investors Summit to be held in Lucknow between February 10 and 12. "We have been successful in receiving investment proposals of Rs 40,000 crore from Gujarat. Through these MoUs, more than 50,000 employment opportunities will be created directly or indirectly in the state. UP CM orders officials to provide power subsidy to boost economic growth

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said power subsidy should be provided to looms for boosting the economic growth of over 2.5 lakh weavers in the state. The power corporation should make arrangements to provide subsidy to weavers for improving productivity. This will also prevent electricity theft, the chief minister was quoted as saying in an official statement. While reviewing a presentation regarding the MSME Weaver Scheme, Adityanath had a detailed discussion with officials on the consumption of electricity and the subsidy provided to the sector. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure maximum public participation in the G-20 conferences scheduled to take place in the state and enlighten students about the growing influence of India at the global level. Covid situation in Uttar Pradesh is normal, says CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state at a high-level meeting with officials, and said that the situation in the state is normal amid the rising cases in various countries. He also directed the officials to closely monitor the "changing trends" of coronavirus and to conduct genome sequencing of the new cases. Adityanath reviewed the situation in the state during the meeting with Team-9, a team of senior officials and ministers constituted for Covid management, and gave necessary guidelines, according to an official statement.
