Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday gave Rs 10 lakh each to the families of 53 journalists who died of COVID-19 and saluted their courage. In a programme held at his residence here on the Good Governance Day, Adityanath said that the manner in which journalists spread awareness and exposed the shortcomings of the system with a positive spirit, even in the middle of a severe pandemic, is commendable. Adityanath disbursed Rs 5.30 crore in all to the families of 53 journalists who died during the pandemic. In July last year, families of 50 other journalists were provided an assistance of Rs 10 lakh each, the UP government said in a statement issued here. UP govt tables supplementary budget, Rs 14,000 cr proposed for new schemes

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday presented a supplementary budget of about Rs 34,000 crore for 2022-23 in the Assembly on the first day of the Winter Session. This includes Rs 14,000 crore for new schemes. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the demands for a supplementary grant of Rs 33,769 crore. UP making efforts to find permanent solution to flood problem: Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the state was making an effort to find a permanent solution to the state's flood problem that causes huge loss of lives and property every year. "Till a few years ago, 38 districts of Uttar Pradesh were affected by floods every year. Today, it has been reduced to only four districts," he said. Discussing the efforts behind the success, Adityanath said when he took over as chief minister in 2017, he received a Rs 100-crore expenditure bill related to the Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, adding that such a huge expense was incurred every year for flood control at just one place.
