Three people were killed and 24 sustained injuries after a bus fell into a drain while trying to avoid hitting a cyclist here on Friday evening, police said. The bus, which had 53 people on board, was on its way to Siddharthnagar from Balrampur. They said The incident occurred in the Dhebaruwa area of Siddharthnagar district. According to Superintendent of Police Prachi Singh, the driver lost control of the bus while trying to save a cyclist. However, the bus hit the cycle before falling into the drain near Chargahwa, police said. Two passengers, including a teenager, and the cyclist died in the accident, she said. Information regarding the accident was received at around 6 pm. The local police, with the help of locals, rescued the passengers trapped in the bus. Five suspects in the Bahraich violence case were arrested here Thursday after an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police in which two of them suffered gunshot injuries, a senior official said. The accused were allegedly trying to flee to Nepal, which shares a border with Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, the officer said. "Five accused have been arrested," Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash told a news channel. On the encounter, he said, "I have information of exchange of fire and gunshot injuries." Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday apprehended a 17-year-old boy here for allegedly selling over 4,000 child pornography videos online, officials said. The accused, who earned a 30 per cent commission on each sale, obtained the videos through Telegram from a supplier named "Raj", police said. The matter came to light after the cyber police department in Gorakhpur received a tip-off from a volunteer organisation, they said. A police team launched a probe and seized the accused's mobile phone after nabbing him on Thursday, they added. During interrogation, the teenager admitted to using one Nekogram mobile application and Telegram to distribute the videos, said Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover.
