Weeks after its procession came under attack and was stopped in Haryana's Nuh, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday said a "shobha yatra" would be taken out in the area on August 28 and asserted there was no need to obtain permission from the administration for such religious events. The organisation, however, said it would inform the administration about the procession and was open to discussion on its form and size as "we do not want to cast a shadow on a G20 event", scheduled in Nuh in the first week of September. The Haryana government on Saturday ordered the suspension of mobile Internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district till August 28 in view of the call for the procession. A 'mahapanchayat' by Hindu outfits at Pondri village in Haryana's Palwal on Sunday announced that they will "resume" on August 28 the VHP's Braj Mandal Yatra in Nuh that was disrupted after communal violence in July. At the 'Sarva Jatiye Mahapanchayat', participants from Palwal, Gurugram and other nearby places took part, and it was decided that the yatra will resume from Nalhar in Nuh and then pass through Firozpur Jhirka's Jhir and Singar temples in the district. The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre and the state governments concerned to ensure no hate speech or violence takes place in Delhi-NCR during marches being held by VHP and Bajrang Dal to protest the communal clashes in Haryana's Nuh. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and S V Bhatti also ordered that additional police or paramilitary forces be deployed and CCTV cameras be installed in sensitive areas. The top court passed the order after senior advocate C U Singh, appearing for journalist Shaheen Abdullah, said 23 demonstrations have been announced by right-wing groups Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in various parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal submitted a memorandum to the police over Saturday's clashes during Muharram processions in west Delhi, officials said. A senior police officer on Sunday said leaders and supporters of the two organisations submitted their memorandum at the Nangloi police station against the incident which left several police personnel and volunteers injured and caused damage to public property. As they submitted their memorandum, they chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans outside the police station before dispersing, the officer said. Police on Sunday registered three cases after an unruly crowd taking part in Muharram processions clashed with police and pelted them with stones in west Delhi's Nangloi area. The Delhi High Court on Friday quashed an order which had directed lodging of an FIR against Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Alok Kumar for allegedly giving hate speech during a rally in 2019. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma allowed the petition filed by Kumar challenging the trial court's February 18, 2020 order. The trial court order had come on a complaint by activist Harsh Mander, who had alleged that Kumar gave hate speech during the rally.
The Vishva Hindu Praishad on Saturday condemned the Karnataka government's decision to repeal the anti-conversion law introduced by the previous BJP regime and launched a mass protest against it. The Vishva Hindu Parishad has issued a legal notice to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing him of making defamatory remarks against the Bajrang Dal in his party's Karnataka poll manifesto and demanding a compensation of Rs 100 crore. The notice was issued by the Chandigarh unit of the VHP and its youth wing Bajrang Dal on May 4, demanding the compensation within 14 days. There was no immediate response from Congress on the queries sent to the party in this regard.
