Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday condemned the killing of four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in a Naxal-orchestrated blast in poll-bound Chhattisgarh's Bijapur area.Expressing grief over the incident, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the all four CRPF soldiers who lost their lives during the unfortunate attack. Workers of the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP clashed in Purba Midnapore district on Saturday, police said. The clash at Benadiha village under Narayangarh police station followed an altercation between two supporters of the rival parties over some local issue. Both the sides claimed that several of their supporters were injured in the clash but none was taken to hospital. Both the BJP and the TMC lodged complaints to the police against each other, police said. Police picket was posted in the village as tension prevailed in the area.

The panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be more challenging than the recently concluded municipal elections in terms of security, a top police officer said Saturday, asserting that the forces were prepared to tackle any situation. Panchayat elections in the state will be held in nine phases beginning November 17. The urban local body polls, held in four phases, began October 8 and ended October 16. A suicide car bomb attack on a bus carrying police officers and workers in central Afghanistan killed at least six people and wounded dozens on Saturday, officials said.
