Weather remains dry in Rajasthan; Sriganganagar hottest

Sriganganagar was today recorded as the hottest place in Rajasthan, recording a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius, followed by Jaisalmer where the day temperature was 42.4 degrees Celsius. Barmer, Churu, Bikaner and Kota recorded maximum of 42.3, 42, 41.7 and 40.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while other districts registered maximum temperature below 40 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological (MeT) Department here. The weather in the state remained dry and the heat conditions are likely to intensify in the state during the next 24 hours.

Marginal rise in mercury as weather remains dry in HP

The maximum temperatures rose marginally while there was no significant change in the minimum temperatures even as the weather remained dry in Himachal Pradesh today. However, the local Meteorological Office has forecast dry weather in the region tomorrow and rains and thundershowers in the lower hills from April 26 onwards and rains and thundershowers in the mid hills and rains or snow in the higher hills for the next four days from July 25. The mercury stayed below normal in the tribal areas and other higher hills and Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of 0.1 degrees Celsius, 3.4 degrees Celsius and 5.0 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 9.0 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 10.6 degrees Celsius, Solan 11.5 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 11.6 degrees Celsius, Shimla 12.5 degrees Celsius, Palampur 13.0 degrees Celsius, Una 14.6 degrees Celsius and Nahan 17.2 degrees Celsius. Max temp in Delhi at 39 degrees C

The national capital witnessed minimum and maximum temperatures settling at a notch below normal today. "The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 39 degrees and 22 degrees Celsius respectively, both a notch below normal," a meteorological department official said. The humidity levels oscillated between 33 and 14 per cent. The Met office has forecast a clear morning tomorrow, with the possibility of strong surface winds in later part of the day. On Sunday, the maximum temperature settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 24 degrees Celsius.

Heat conditions intensify in parts of Rajasthan

Heat conditions intensified in parts of Rajasthan where Phalodi in Jodhpur recorded maximum of 41 degrees Celsius, followed by Barmer which recorded 40.3 degrees Celsius. Kota registered a maximum of 39.2 degrees Celsius while Bikaner and Churu registered 39 degrees Celsius today, according to the Meteorological (MeT) Department. Jodhpur, Dabok, Ajmer and Jaipur also recorded day temperatures of 38.8, 37.5, 37.4 and 36.9 degrees Celsius respectively. The day temperature would increase in the state during the next 24 hours.

Delhi records max temp of 35 deg C, may experience strong winds tomorrow

The national capital today recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, with the meteorological department forecasting strong surface winds in the city tomorrow. The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, while humidity levels oscillated between 47 per cent and 13 per cent. The weatherman has forecast clear sky and strong surface winds during the day, which, however, would not have any effect on the temperature. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 36 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT office said. Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 24 degrees Celsius.

The minimum and maximum temperatures dropped marginally as higher reaches and tribal areas had another spell of moderate snowfall. The mid and lower hills experienced widespread intermittent rains accompanied by strong winds. Rohtang Pass, Koksar, Mari, Keylong and Gondla recorded 25 cm, 22 cm, 20 cm, 13 cm and 7cm of snow, creating cold wave conditions in adjoining valleys. Heatwave likely to hit Telangana in next two days

Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in parts of Telangana during the next two days with the mercury expected rise upto 45 degree Celsius, the Met office said today. It also forecast thunderstorms in some parts of the state. "Heat wave conditions (are) likely to prevail in some parts in the districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Jagityal, Mancherial, Pedapalli, Karimnagar and Warangal of Telangana," a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department said here. A warning issued by Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said the maximum temperature in the northern districts of Telangana was likely to rise up to 45 degree Celsius during the next two days. Mercury on rise in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh continued to reel under a heat wave as the city sweltered from past couple of days.The mercury rose by a couple of degrees across several places on Saturday.The India Meteorological Department stated that Mandla has recorded maximum temperature of 44 degrees and there are no chances of respite from the heat in the state in coming days.It is expected that the temperature of the state capital, Bhopal, will also rise from 38'c to 42'c in the coming days.

Shimla lashed by severe thunderstorm, rain

Shimla and surrounding areas were lashed by a severe thunderstorm accompanied by intermittent rainfall and hail while high altitude tribal areas and other higher reaches had another spell of moderate snowfall causing sharp fall in mercury. Fresh snowfall and rain in Kashmir Valley

Many areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall today, while heavy rainfall lashed the plains in the valley, including the summer capital Srinagar, bringing down the maximum temperatures way below the normal limit. Several areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir Valley experienced fresh snowfall today, an official of the MeT department said. He said that snowfall was recorded in Gulmarg the famous ski-resort and Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, Sonamarg and higher areas of Kangan in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, Zojila Pass, near Amarnath Cave, Drass and Zabarwan hills in Srinagar. Dusty winds swept the national capital today evening after a scorching hot day. The maximum temperature in some parts of the city crossed the 40 degree mark. The Safdarjung observatory registered a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, a MeT department official said. Chandigarh hit by dust-storm

Chandigarh and its surrounding areas in Punjab and Haryana were hit by a high-velocity dust storm today. The storm, with wind speed exceeding 40 kmph, hit the city and its surrounding areas including Mohali and Panchkula. The maximum temperature had risen two to four notches above normal at many places in Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh, over the last few days, settling in the 37-40 degrees Celsius range. Severe thunderstorm lash Shimla, adjoining areas

Shimla and adjoining areas were lashed by a severe thunderstorm accompanied by intermittent showers this evening. Rohtang Pass was closed again following fresh snowfall in high altitude tribal areas and other higher reaches. A large number of vehicles were stranded on either side of Rohtang Pass and people on the way to Manali were stranded at Koksar. One ailing person was sent to Manali through Rohtang Tunnel and all other stranded people were safe, SDM Lahaul Amar Negi said. Rescue posts have been set up at Koksar and Mari. It was a sunny day in the national capital today with the minimum temperature settling at 23 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal. The relative humidity level during morning hours was registered at 41 per cent, making the weather pleasant. Strong surface winds swept Delhi yesterday and the MeT office has forecast clear skies with strong surface winds through the day today. However, no rainfall was recorded overnight.
