NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Monsoon rains in India are expected to be average in 2018, the country's only private weather forecasting agency said on Wednesday, raising prospects of higher farm and economic growth in the $2 trillion economy, Asia's third-biggest.
The national capital on Tuesday sizzled at 38.6 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average, a rise of over two degrees in past 24 hours.
Jhansi was recorded as the hottest place in Uttar Pradesh with the maximum temperature touching 38.6 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the day temperature was above normal in Agra, Moradabad and Meerut, according to the Met department here. The weather is most likely to remain dry over east Uttar Pradesh on April 5 and rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places over east UP on April 6. In its forecast, the MeT department said that rain and thundershowers are also likely to occur at isolated places over west UP on April 5 and April 6.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in Rajasthan where Barmer recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.1 degree Celsius today. Barmer was followed by Churu and Bikaner where the day temperature was 41 degrees Celsius. Ajmer, Kota and Sriganganagar recorded 39.3 degrees Celsius, 39.1 degrees Celsius and 38.9 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT department here.
