Lahaul Spiti (Himachal Pradesh), June 12 (ANI): The Manali-Leh National Highway has been opened for vehicular traffic movement in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had completed snow-clearing operation of the road which remained block due to accumulation of snow during winter at various passes en route. A large number of tourists prefer the picturesque landscape to visit Leh from Manali by road. The strategically significant road was blocked for over six months due to snow. The road serves as a lifeline for the people of Ladakh region ensuring essential supplies as well as stocking for winters when the region remains cut off from the rest of the country.

The findings have shown that popular magazines commonly feature older pregnant celebrities on their covers with no mention of the risks of advanced maternal age pregnancy or the advanced reproductive technologies and methods needed to achieve these pregnancies. According to the team of researchers, by downplaying fertility decline with advancing age, these magazines tend to contribute to women's belief that they can safely put off pregnancy until later ages. As part of the study, published in the Journal of Women's Health, the researchers examined 416 magazine issues aimed at reproductive-aged women and found that fertility was highlighted on one-third of the covers, which included the mention of 240 different celebrities. Hyderabad, June 12 (ANI): A Hyderabadi woman has urged the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to rescue her son who is stranded in the Gulf nation. While speaking to ANI, mother of the stranded man said, "Some agents in Riyadh, Saudi have locked my son in a room and they are demanding Rs 1 lakh to send my son back. I have filed a complaint with the local police station in Hyderabad and then later approached the External Affairs Ministry and Indian Embassy in Riyadh, who said that my son will be rescued. I request Indian Embassy to rescue him as he is locked and is not even being given adequate food." Moin was in search of a job and was approached by an agent who promised him a courier service job in Riyadh. He left for Riyadh in April on a two years contract but was cheated by those agents and was employed as a cleaner at some residence. "They ask him to work for 12 hours and when he refuses to work, they start beating him and are also not paying him his salary," she added.

They protested at Delhi Jal Board (DJB) headquarters in the national capital. While protesting they also met DJB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nikhil Kumar who took charge on June 6. BJP MLA OP Sharma also protested against the shortage of water. Former Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel and other party leaders indulged in arguments with DJB officials over the complaints on water supply. The boy's smile in the picture is in stark contrast to the look on the face of his father-sombre, dejected and neglected. Yashpal Saxena, who became a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity when his son was bludgeoned to death by a Muslim family, is now a figure of lack of apathy. 23-year-old Ankit Saxena was lynched to death in broad daylight in the national capital by his Muslim girlfriend's family in February 2018. The murder took a communal angle but the grief-stricken father put his foot down. Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 11 (ANI): Atleast 4 elderly people, including 1 woman and 3 men from Tamil Nadu died in Kerala Express train in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi. Reason behind the death has not been ascertained yet. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Manoj Kumar Singh, Jhansi PRO Railway, said, "All of them were in the age group of 70-90 years and were going to Coimbatore. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Reason behind the death is not ascertained." He further added, "A doctor team was sent to the train after they complained of ill health and they were checked at Jhansi railway station. Three were declared dead on the spot while one was admitted to hospital where he died during treatment."

Patna (Bihar), Jun 11 (ANI): A man killed his wife and child before shooting himself in Bihar's Patna. Police said that they recovered a suicide note from the spot. "Prima facie, it seems that the man shot his wife and kid from his pistol, and then committed suicide. He mentioned this in a suicide note. Investigation is underway," said Garima Malik, SSP, Patna. The incident which happened in Kidwaipuri area of Patna earlier seemed like a triple murder.

Kolkata, Jun 11 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday unveiled the state of polymath Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at Kolkata's Vidyasagar College where the statue of the Bengali philosopher was vandalised during clashes between TMC and BJP workers last month. Banerjee also installed a bust of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at the college that had become the epicentre of violence during BJP chief Amit Shah's LS polls campaign roadshow in Kolkata in mid May.
Kolkata (West Bengal), Jun 11 (ANI): Junior doctors at NRS Medical College and Hospital went on a strike after one of the doctors was allegedly attacked by a patient's family who died yesterday. The junior doctors locked up the hospital gates, stopped work at the outpatient department (OPD) and started a 'dharna' as a mark of protest against the attack. Adequate security has been deployed in the wake of the incident. Earlier, the family members of the deceased patient have staged a protest alleging medical negligence on behalf of the doctor. Chandrima Bhattacharya, Health Minister of WB said, 'Emergency is open and talks are on. Four people have been arrested in connection with attack on doctors."
Kolkata (West Bengal), Jun 11 (ANI): Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee garlands the bust of polymath Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar at a ceremonial programme in Kolkata on Tuesday. The event took place at the Hare School ground in College Street. Later in the day the bust will be re-installed at Vidyasagar College. Vidyasagar's statue was vandalized during Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata amid Lok Sabha elections campaigning.
