Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 09 (ANI): Upendra Tiwari, Minister of State with independent charge of Water Resources in Uttar Pradesh, has kicked up a potential storm by making a distinction between "nature of rapes" by saying while the rapes of minors are definitely considered rapes but that of married women could be looked with a different view. Tiwari questioned the reasons for women coming out with their experiences of sexual abuse seven to eight years after the incident.

Patna (Bihar), June 09 (ANI): Janata Dal United (JDU) will not be a part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) outside the state of Bihar. JDU will fight the upcoming elections alone in Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Haryana and Delhi. The decision has been taken in the party's National Executive Meeting today.While addressing a press conference in Patna today JDU chief K C Tyagi said, " JDU will be not a part of the NDA led Union Cabinet". There have been reports of rift between the BJP and the JD(U) reportedly after no ministerial post was given to the party in the centeral government.
Kozhikode (Kerala), Jun 09 (ANI): Parts of Kozhikode in Kerala received heavy rainfall today after southwest monsoon made its onset in the coastal state on Saturday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert in the state of Kerala, stating that 'widespread rainfalls with heavy to very heavy falls are expected at isolated spaces on June 9". The conditions are likely to be the same till Thursday. Orange alert calls for staying prepared.

Jalandhar (Punjab), Jun 09 (ANI): An 8-month-old infant died allegedly on June 8 due to medical negligence at a clinic in Punjab's Jalandhar. Family claimed that infant died after vaccination. The infant was brought to the clinic as she was suffering from stomach disorder. While speaking to ANI, the mother of the infant said, "The infant was unwell since 3 days; we took her to the doctor who gave her some medicines. Medical negligence of the clinic is reason for the death of the baby".
New Delhi, Jun 09 (ANI): After registering a massive victory in recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday called on a meeting of core groups of Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand to strategise for the assembly polls scheduled to take place in the states later this year. The meeting is taking place at BJP's head office in the national capital. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and National General Secretary Ramlal along with other leaders were present in the meeting.

New Delhi, Jun 09 (ANI): Two bike-borne assailants fired upon vehicle occupied by two journalists of ABP News in the national capital on Saturday. The incident took place near Barapullah flyover in Delhi. While speaking to ANI, Parvinder Singh, Additional DCP (ADCP), South Delhi said, "The two journalists named Arvind and Siddharth Purohit were from ABP News. The incident occurred on Barapullah flyover. Bullet hit the car, but the journalists escaped unhurt. A case has been registered. Further investigation is underway".
Silchar (Assam), June 09 (ANI): A massive fire broke out in three coaches of Silchar-Trivandru Express at Silchar Railway Station on Sunday in Assam. No causality has been reported so far. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited.
Bhopal (MP), June 09 (ANI): The dead body of an eight-year-old girl found in a drain in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. The incident took place at Kamla Nagar area. As per the official, the girl was gone to the market to buy something and when she hasn't come back her family reported the incident to the police. The girl was found dead next day reported. Assistant Superintend of Police Akhil Patel told ANI, "Body has been sent for post-mortem, the reason of her death can be ascertained once medical reports come."One policeman has also been suspended after the incident reported.
Bhubaneswar (Odisha ), June 09 (ANI): Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan paid tribute to Odisha's former chief minister Nandini Satpathy on her birth anniversary in Bhubaneswar today. Nandini was the first woman Chief Minister of Odisha and the second woman to become Chief Minister in independent India. Known as the 'Iron Lady of Odisha', she was one of the pioneering female politicians of post-independent India.Dharmendra Pradhan comes from the same constituency. Dharmendra Pradhan said, " Her life is admirable for all of us."

Alwar (Rajasthan), June 09 (ANI): A tiger popularly known as ST-16 died in Rajasthan's Alwar. He died after he was tranquilised at Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar. While speaking to ANI on this matter, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Sariska Tiger Reserve Sheduram Yadav said, "ST-16 was tranquilized as he was wounded. He didn't gain consciousness. He was given normal doze and even after being tranquilized he had walked 2-2.5 km."
Colombo (Sri Lanka), June 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the terror victims at St Anthony's Church in Sri Lanka's Colombo today. The church had come under terrorist attack in April 2019. PM Modi was received at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo by his Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe. PM Modi became the first foreign leader to visit the island nation after the Easter terror bombings that killed over 250 people, including 11 Indians, on April 21. This is PM's third visit to the island nation. Earlier, he visited the country in 2015 and 2017.

Twinkle's body was found close to her house in Tappal town on the outskirts of Aligarh. The police have arrested two of the accused who have confessed to the crime. While speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP-Rural) of Aligarh Mani Lal Patidar said, "I am expressing satisfaction on police inquiry, mahapanchayat has been called off. The incident took place late night and deceased Mohit used to do the trade of cloth in the Karol Bagh market. Mohit's family alleged that a neighbour named Kamal has killed Mohit. At present, the police has registered the case and started the investigation.
Sangrur (Punjab), June 09 (ANI): The rescue operation is underway by a team of Indian Army and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to rescue a two-year-old child in Punjab's Sangrur. Fatehvir Singh accidentally fell into a 150-feet deep borewell in Sangrur on June 06. He fell into the field while playing that was covered with a cloth. A team of NDRF and Army experts, assisted by the police, civil authorities, villagers and volunteers are carrying out the rescue operations.
Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), June 09 (ANI): In yet another case of medical apathy, patients were seen being treated on the floor in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. Due to lack of proper bed facilities in Rampur District Hospital people can be seen lying on the floor with drips on their hands, while the drip bottles were seen hung up on the windows. A doctor on duty said that there has been a sudden increase in the number of patients which led to the non-availability of beds in the hospital. A patient named Mohammad Samir Ahmed said, "3-4 people are sleeping on a single bed due to lack of sufficient beds in the hospital." While other patients present in the hospital also complained about the same issue. While speaking to ANI, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Rampur BS Nagar said, "Some patients insist on being admitted, so the number of patients at the hospital has increased. We will investigate the matter."
