Hyderabad, June 08 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi demanded leader of opposition post in Telangana Assembly. Asaduddin Owaisi said, "We will request the speaker of Telangana Assembly to give AIMIM the post of leader of opposition as we are second largest party in the state. We have more numbers than Congress. Our party will meet the speaker and we expect that he will take positive action." Asaduddin Owaisi also took a jibe on congress party in Telangana. He said, "What goes around comes around."

Andhra CM constitutes council of ministers, 25 members take oath

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Jun 08 (ANI): A day after announcing five deputies in his cabinet, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy constituted his council of ministers, which included 25 legislators who were sworn-in by Governor ESL Narasimhan. The swearing-in of ministers came nine days after Reddy took oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister after sweeping the state both in Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.

Former Army officer Sanaullah released from detention center in Assam

Kamrup (Assam), Jun 08 (ANI): After the Gauhati High Court granted interim bail to former soldier Mohammad Sanaullah, who was sent to detention camp on May 28 after a Foreigners' Tribunal declared him an illegal immigrant on May 23, the former Army officer was released from detention center in Guwahati. Sanaullah was granted bail with a condition of Rs 20,000 bail bond, two local sureties and admission of his bio-metric details. Sanaullah's family had approached the High Court alleging conspiracy against him by border police personnel.

Snow clearance operation underway on Amarnath Yatra track

scheduled to begin on July 1. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the country are expected to visit the holy place. The state government along with Shrine board started the preparations for the smooth pilgrimage this year and in this process the government along with Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has started clearing snow from tracks. The track from Chandanwari to holy cave is around 32 kms. Around 800 workers have been arranged by the shrine board and Pahalgam Development authority (PDA) to clear the holy track and work is underway since 15 days.

Three-day long mango festival begins in Rajasthan's Banswara

Banswara (Rajasthan), Jun 08 (ANI): Rajasthan's first mango festival started in Banswara today. Over 45 varieties of mangoes are being showcased in a three-day long Banswara Mango Festival. The festival is organized under the support of District Administration, Agriculture Research Center and Banswara Tourism Upgradation Committee. A local in the festival informed that this kind of exhibition is first in the state; this will help the locals to identify all type of mangoes.

Rahul Gandhi must find right successor before resigning: Veerappa Moily

Bengaluru (Karnataka), Jun 08 (ANI): Senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily on Saturday urged party president Rahul Gandhi to find the "right candidate" to lead the party if he wants to resign from the presidentship. "Even if Rahul Gandhi wants to leave the presidentship, he has to do it only after party is properly restructured because he alone can do it. He has that kind of leadership quality. Even if he wants to leave, he has to hand it over to the right person, in right hands," Moily said in a letter which he narrated to ANI. Moily also raised concerns over the growing dissent within the party, and asserted that Congress cannot afford to be in a relaxed state. "People are raising their voices, in some states discipline is flouted but party can't afford to be in relaxed state. Rahul Gandhi is still the president of the party and he has to reign over the party. Indiscipline should be dealt with firm hand," Moily added.

Elderly woman beaten by her daughter-in-law in Haryana's Mahendragarh

Couple murdered while asleep in UP's Prayagraj

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 08 (ANI): In a horrific scene that unfolded on late Friday night, a husband and his wife were murdered in their sleep by unidentified persons in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. The incident which took place in Soraon area shook the locals. Police said that the miscreants broke in the house and killed the couple who were sleeping on terrace with their kids. The killers also vandalised the in-house items including the almirah, however, the motive behind the killing is not clear as police said they are investigating the case.

Minor boy allegedly beaten up by 2 TMC leaders in WB's Durgapur

Durgapur (West Bengal), June 07 (ANI): A 6-year-old child was allegedly beaten up by two All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders in West Bengal's Durgapur on Friday. The child was beaten up badly after he refused to get cannabis. The locals protested outside police station after this incident took place. Later, police used baton to disperse the mob from the spot. Aligarh child murder case: City Bar Association will not appear for accused in court

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 08 (ANI): Following the nation-wide condemnation of the brutal killing of a two-year-old girl in Tappal town of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, the city's bar association has decided against appearing for the accused arrested in the case. "We stand with the family of 2.5-year-old girl who was murdered in Tappal and no advocate will appear in court for the accused. Advocate from outside will not be allowed to fight the case. We will fight for the child," said Anoop Kaushik, General Secretary, Aligarh Bar Association.

HP Police organise dog show at Shimla Summer Festival

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Jun 08 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Police organised a dog show at the Shimla Summer Festival in the state capital. The dog squad of the state police also took part in the event, showing their skills at the exhibition which was organised to draw tourists' attention and make the locals aware of the contribution of canines to reduce crime rate in the state. On being asked about the importance of the dog show, organizer of the event and co-coordinator of Himachal Pradesh Police's Dog Squad, ASI Dhyan Singh Thakur said, "It is very important. We want to show that being dogs, they play an important role in our security, and keep our lives and goods safe. They play the role of soldiers, and in cases like of robbery and murder, drug busting, they are playing an important role." The four-day Shimla Summer Festival had begun on June 4.

Minor boys caught performing stunts on Mumbai local train, 2 nabbed

Mumbai, June 08 (ANI): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Mumbai took into custody two minor boys after a video of them performing daredevil stunts went viral on social media. The incident took place on June 6. Around five-six boys boarded the train from Mankhurd railway station and started performing stunts as soon as the train left the station for Kurla. A person sitting in the back coach made the video of these boys and sent it to Kurla RPF. As soon as the train reached Kurla railway station, the RPF team started looking for the boys. While three-four boys managed to run away, the police managed to catch two of them. Later on, the police released them after counseling and handed them over to their respective parents.

3 dead after massive fire breaks out at school in Faridabad

Faridabad (Haryana), Jun 08 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a private school in Haryana's Faridabad on Saturday. 3 people, including 2 children died in the incident. The incident took place at A.N.D. Convent School and a cloth godown located below it in Dabua Colony. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Police is investigating the matter. BSF personnel brave heat wave to guard International Border in Jammu

Jammu (J-K), June 08 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) is the first line of defence protecting the international borders in India .The extreme heat wave which has engulfed the whole country has made their work very difficult in Jammu. The temperatures soar during the day time is more than 45 degrees celsius. The Jawans have to do patrolling on International Borders in the existing extreme temperatures with heavy uniform and bullet proof jackets which tests their strength. Despite severe temperature conditions Jawans kept a tight vigil on border, so that no enemy can infiltrate on this side. A jawan said, "People in the country are sleeping with an assurance that we are at the border. So, no matter what the weather is, we are always on alert."
