PM Modi holds bilateral meetings with BIMSTEC leaders

New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid in the national capital on Friday. He also held meeting with Bhutanese Counterpart Lotay Tshering. PM Modi began bilateral interactions after taking oath as the 15th Prime Minister of India. He held bilateral meetings with several BIMSTEC leaders, who arrived in India to take part in PM Modi's oath-taking ceremony.

Rafale jet's replica erected outside Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa's residence

Marshal Dhanoa has always stressed on importance of advanced Rafale jet in IAF. The first Rafale fighter jet is expected to be handed over to Indian Air Force in September this year.

Permanent houses proving to be boon for homeless in JandK's Rajouri

Rajouri (JandK), May 31 (ANI): Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses are being provided to homeless in JandK's Rajouri. "We are very happy that houses are being built for several people in the area," said a beneficiary. These houses are being provided by Rural Development Department to widows, specially-abled and Below Poverty Line (BPL) people. The construction is in full swing to accommodate all the homeless in the region.

Hillary, Chelsea Clinton may launch Film and TV Production Company

New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Hillary Clinton has now turned her focus towards Hollywood, and is likely to launch a film and TV production company with her daughter Chelsea. Hillary is the former Democratic presidential candidate. It is being reported that though the deal hasn't been settled yet, the new project will be focused on stories revolving around women. This won't be Hillary's first time in Hollywood. Hillary earlier in August tried her luck in the entertainment industry when she agreed to exec produce 'The Woman's Hour', her first television project. Hillary is one of the latest White House occupants to shift their focus to the world of entertainment. Barack and Michelle Obama recently established their own film and TV production company.

We're together, not upset: Nitish Kumar on JD (U) not getting ministerial berth

Patna (Bihar), May 31 (ANI): JD (U) decided not to be a part of Narendra Modi's new cabinet, saying it would not accept the BJP's offer of only one ministerial seat. JD (U) won 16 seats in Bihar in the recently concluded Lok Sabha, while BJP bagged 17.While speaking to ANI, Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) leader, Nitish Kumar said, "When I was told one seat will be given to JD (U), I had said we don't need it but I'll ask my party men. I asked everyone, all of them said it's not appropriate that we show only symbolic participation when we're together." He added, "We're together, not upset. I am seeing reports in newspapers that we had asked for 3 seats, this is false. We had not asked for any seat." Despite being a part of the National Democratic Alliance, the party was also not a part of the last central government. The BJP, however, is sharing power in the Bihar government with its leader Sushil Kumar Modi as the Deputy Chief Minister.

FIH Men's Series Finals: Teams of Russia and Poland arrive at Bhubaneswar airport

Admiral Karambir Singh takes over as Chief of Naval staff

New Delhi, May 31 (ANI): Admiral Karambir Singh took over as the chief of the Naval staff in Delhi on Friday. He is the 24th Chief of the Naval staff. Admiral Singh will be the first helicopter pilot to become chief of Naval Staff. He succeeded Admiral Sunil Lanba to become Indian Navy's Chief. Admiral Singh said, "My predecessors made sure that Navy has a solid foundation and has reached new heights. It'll be my endeavour to continue with their efforts and provide the nation with a Navy that's strong, credible and ready to meet security challenge in maritime domain."

30 years of Tiananmen Massacre observed in Dharamshala

Dharamshala (HP), May 31 (ANI): Activists and students from China and Tibet on Thursday gathered to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Tiananmen Massacre that marked a major turning point in the history of modern China. A panel discussion organised by Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) in coordination with International Tibet Network, saw participation by over hundreds of Tibetans and others from different countries. In the spring of 1989, Beijing erupted with the largest student-led pro-democracy demonstration. The pro-democracy movement quickly spread to over 30 cities in China before June 4, 1989. Chinese troops and security police stormed through Tiananmen Square, firing indiscriminately into the crowds of protesters witnessing the horrors of the Chinese government's brutality.
