Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), June 02 (ANI): Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Sunday rescued four missing climbers from Nanda Devi Base Camp in Uttarakhand with the help of Indian Air Force (IAF). Pithoragarh District Magistrate VK Jogdande said, "Four mountaineers have been rescued. Since there's the possibility of an avalanche in the area closer to Nanda Devi East, search and rescue operation for remaining 8 mountaineers will continue on Monday or Tuesday depending on weather conditions."
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), June 02 (ANI): After a controversy sparked relating to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) examinations, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said his government would not let anyone play with the future of the youth, and has "made it clear" to the heads of all the Commissions to install transparency in the competitive exams. "We will not let anyone play with law. We have made it clear to the heads of all the Commissions that there should be transparency in competitive examinations. We want to assure the youth of the state that people who will try to play with their future will be put behind bars," Adityanath told ANI. UP Police had arrested the UPSSSC examination controller Anjulata Katiyar over charges of leaking the LT grade paper.
Pune (Maharashtra), June 02 (ANI): Hundred of members from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and queer (LGBTQ) community participated in the pride march organised in Pune, today. This was the ninth pride march held in Pune by LGBTQ community. Many foreign nationals from different countries also participated in this pride march. The march was flagged off from Balgandharva chowk in Pune. While speaking to ANI, a member of LGBTQ community said, "It is the most happy pride, the whole year has been super happy. We are still celebrating it". A foreign national present in the March said, "I think it is a good way to show the city and locals who are not really aware about this topic".
Amritsar (Punjab), Jun 02 (ANI): As heat wave intensified across the country, demand for earthen pots is rising in Amritsar. Earthen pots keep the water cool even in the harsh weather. People are buying the traditional pots for its cooling quality and health benefits. Temperature in the holy city has crossed the 45 degree Celsius mark, and according to IMD predictions, the situation will remain the same for couple more days before the mercury level starts to drop.
Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 02 (ANI): As temperature continued to rise in major parts of the country, farmers are also concerned about their crops. Farmers in Gorakhpur's Kushmi and Khorabar blocks are waiting for monsoon to arrive as intense heat wave is affecting their farmlands. One of the farmers told ANI, "We are watering the crops through pumping sets but whatever fruit is being erected is getting paled due to the hot weather." Another farmer said it's already June, but rain is nowhere to be seen and it's becoming difficult to water the crops through diesel-run pumps as the fuel is hard to afford. Temperature in Gorakhpur is hovering around 40 degrees Celsius, and according to IMD predictions, monsoon will arrive in Kerala on June 06.

People from Hindu community make traditional vermicelli for consumption in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi. As the festival of Eid is nearing, the production has increased. Search operation is still underway. Superintendent of Police, Dumka YS Ramesh, informed, "In an encounter with Naxals in Dumka, 1 jawan has lost his life and 4 others are injured. According to our information 4-5 Naxals have been shot."
