Police tightens security around Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 30 (ANI): During the holy month of Ramadan, Hyderabad police ensured the safety and security of over one lakh visitors who pay visit to the four hundred-years-old Mecca Masjid to offer namaz. While speaking to ANI, Ambar Kishor Jha, DCP South Zone said, "Adequate arrangements done to ensure smooth traffic movement. Teams deployed to prevent pick-pocketing, bag-lifting and to round up anti-social elements". While talking about the same, Head of Mecca Masjid, Hafez Mohammed said, "This Ramadan, all arrangements have been made in the mosque. More than one lakh people visit the mosque to offer namaz on daily basis".

Congress party will attend PM's swearing-in ceremony: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on attending PM's swearing-in ceremony, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Congress party will attend the oath taking ceremony for sure. Elections were a matter between two ideologies, two parties but the oath ceremony is of a Prime Minister. PM is of the entire country. We expect him to treat all people of the country equally." Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony for the second consecutive term will held on May 30, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Fire breaks out in a shop at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport

12-year-old girl takes 'diksha' to become Jain monk in Surat

Surat (Gujarat) May 30 (ANI): When at the age of 12, children like to play and spend time with their friends, Khushi takes 'diksha' and feels like leading a simple life as a saint. Khushi, today became a Jain monk, renouncing all the worldly pleasures and embracing monkhood. She put off studies last year in November as she was keen on taking diksha. She was studying in 7th standard, when she made her mind to finally take diksha. Her family completely backed her decision.

Most of the villagers are living near forest areas, collect sal tree seeds and sell it to the buyers for further processing. Uber may soon allow you to mark 'favourite' drivers

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): Uber is reportedly testing a new feature that would allow you mark a driver as a favourite. The option, spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, is available on the app after a ride has ended. You can 'Add as favourite' a driver to have a ride with the same driver in the future. The purposed feature may help build confidence among riders and make them feel safe. It is unclear when the feature would be rolled out to the public.

TMC MLA Manirul Islam, leaders join BJP

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): Trinamool Congress MLA Manirul Islam on Wednesday joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the national capital. The TMC MLA and leaders joined BJP in front of National Spokesperson Mukul Roy, senior leader Anil Baluni and party's National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. TMC's Birbhum youth wing chief Gadadhar Hazra, general secretary Mohd Asif Iqbal and worker Nimai Das also joined the BJP. On May 28, over 50 councillors and two TMC MLAs joined BJP party.

Jagan Mohan Reddy offers prayers at Kanaka Durga Temple ahead of swearing-in ceremony

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), May 29 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister-elect YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday visited the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada ahead of his swearing-in ceremony. The YSRCP president offered prayers at the temple. Jagan Mohan had wrested Andhra Pradesh from TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, and swept the state by bagging 151 out of 175 assembly seats, and winning 22 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh.

Will meet top Congress leaders to introspect 'unexpected' results: Tejashwi Yadav

Patna (Bihar), May 29 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday said his party will meet top Congress leaders to introspect the "unexpected" results of the Lok Sabha elections in which they both faced a drubbing. "Congress party has invited us for the meeting in Delhi, where election results will be discussed. We are in touch with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Ahmed Patel and others. We will participate in the meeting there," Tejashwi told media in Patna. RJD which had stitched a grand alliance in Bihar against BJP-JDU-LJP combine faced a humiliating defeat as the party could not even open its account.

Pakistan again violates ceasefire in J-K's Poonch

Indian Army strongly retaliated to the intermittent firing. As per latest information, no injury or damage has been reported so far in the ceasefire violation. 'Chor ki dhadi me tinka': Kailash Vijayvargiya on Mamata backing out from PM's swearing-in

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): After West Bengal Chief Minister cancelled her plan to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in-ceremony citing 'untrue' allegations of political violence in her state, BJP's national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya described the former's situation as "chor ki dhaadi me tinka", and said the TMC supremo was unnecessarily politicising a constitutional event. Arun Jaitley requests PM Modi to not include him in new cabinet

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): Citing health reasons, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to not include him in the new cabinet, and said he wants "reasonable" time for his treatment. "I am writing to you to formally request you that I should be allowed a reasonable time for myself, my treatment and my health, and, therefore, not be a part of any responsibility, for the present, in the new Government," Jaitley said in a letter to PM Modi. Jaitley, however, added that since he would have a lot of time with him during his break, he would informally support the government or the party.
