New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): BJP candidate for East Delhi Gautam Gambhir on Friday said that he visited Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and temple on Saturday. While talking to ANI, he said that he prayed for the best candidate to win from East Delhi constituency. The national capital will be voting for the seven parliamentary seats in the sixth phase of 2019 General Election on May 12.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), May 11 (ANI): Amid of Lok Sabha elections, Punjab Tourism Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu held a press conference where he hit at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and compared him with a 'bride'. Sidhu said, "Modi Ji uss dulhan ki tarah hain jo roti kum baelti hai aur chudiyaan zada khankati hai taaki mohalle walon ko yeh pata chale ki woh kaam kar rahi hai. Bas yahi hua hai Modi sarkaar mein."

Time magazine's cover is honest version of how PM Modi performed in last 5 years: Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Congress veteran leader Salman Khurshid on Saturday shared his views on the Time magazine calls Modi 'India's divider-in-chief' in its international edition. Supporting the magazine's headline, he said, "He (PM Modi) projected as a great new hope for India five years ago in the same magazine amongst other people, you can't accept one version and reject another version so the present version, which is I believe an honest version about how he is performing in the last five years and how negative and positive politics has become, because the way he pushed it. This is being said by the Times magazine it means that the world has now finally decided to speak the truth. The truth being spoken in the world media, I hope the truth will be spoken on the 23rd of May by the Indian people as well," said Khurshid. The Time magazine has featured PM Modi on its cover, called him India's "divider in chief", and asked if India can endure five more years of his government.

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): BJP candidate for East Delhi Gautam Gambhir visited Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on Saturday. Gambhir took the blessings and also performed the 'Seva.' The national capital will be voting for the seven parliamentary seats in the sixth phase of 2019 General election on May 12. Mayawati asks SC to take action against Congress govt in Alwar gang-rape case

MK Stalin pays last respect to M Ramanathan

Coimbatore (TN), May 11 (ANI): Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin visited home of former party MP M Ramanathan in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore to pay his last respect. M Ramanathan passed away on May 10 at his residence after battling with age-related ailments for a few years. He was 84. Ramanathan has become MLA twice and had also served MP from Coimbatore.

Dalai Lama holds 3-day teaching session in HP's Dharamshala

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), May 11 (ANI): Dalai Lama held a 3-day teaching session in HP's Dharamshala on Friday. It was held on the request of Russian Buddhists. The event held at Tsuglagkhang which is the main Tibetan temple in Dharamshala. Over 6,000 people including Tibetans, monks, nuns and foreigner followers from different countries gathered to attend the session. The first teaching session was held in the year 2009 and this year, these followers are celebrating the 10th anniversary of this annual teaching.

The Hindus-Muslims bond had set a great example of communal harmony in Ramadan. 'Iftar' is the meal consumed to break day-long fast observed during holy month of Ramadan. Jai Singh, a local said, "I've been coming here since last 20 years and keeping fasts during Ramadan since last 2 years. I keep fasts to send a message of unity between Hindus and Muslims."

Devotees offer prayers on Ganga Saptami in Varanasi

Varanasi (UP), May 11 (ANI): Devotees celebrated Ganga Saptami in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi on Saturday. Also known as Ganga Jayanti, the festival is dedicated to the Goddess Ganga. According to the Hindu mythology, it is believed river Ganga took birth on this day. Ganga Saptami is observed on the Saptami, seventh day of the Shukla Paksha during the month of 'Vaishakha'. Devotees took holy dip in river Ganga on this day.

This tribal village in West Bengal's Bankura is on verge of being parched

Bankura (West Bengal), May 11 (ANI): The Shuili Bona village in West Bengal's consisting of nearly 400 tribals is on the verge of being parched. So is the situation of different villages in Saltora block of Bankura district which goes to polls on May 12. Quest for drinking water is unending for the residents of these villages. Acute water scarcity compels the villagers, mostly women to footslog up to four kilometers to fetch drinking water from the river. Villagers also bath in the same river. This village like many others in the adjacent areas has bathrooms however no one uses it due to severe water shortage.

Coimbatore Engineer develops engine that runs on distilled water, to be launched soon in Japan

Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), May 11 (ANI): A mechanical engineer based in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore has developed an automobile engine which he claims can run on distilled water, an alternative of petrol and fuel. Sounthirajan Kumaraswamy said that it took him 10 years to develop the engine which he claimed is one of its kind in the world. He added that it was his dream to launch his engine in India but sadly, he didn't receive any "positive response" from the Indian authorities for his innovation, and said the dejection forced him to search a new market and that's when Japan came handy. Sounthirajan said he approached the Japan government and such was the response from the Japanese authorities that in just a few days, his automobile engine is scheduled to be launched there.

NDRF, Forest Dept rescue mud-stuck baby elephant in Assam's Kampur

Kampur (Assam), May 11 (ANI): Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Forest Department successfully rescued a baby elephant which was stuck in a thick lake in Assam's Kampur district. The calf was crossing the railway tracks with its mother when the baby jumbo fell into the lake and got stuck in the beel covered with water hyacinth.

Cylone Fani: 'Helping hand' initiative to be intensified in Odisha, says govt

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), May 11 (ANI): As people affected due to cyclone Fani in Odisha are still reeling with the mess which the cyclonic storm left behind, the state government on Friday said that it will "intensify" the 'helping hand' initiative to restore normalcy in affected areas. Sanjay Singh, the Secretary of Odisha's Information and Public Relations Department, told ANI, "Around 260 skilled ITI trainees from different parts of state have come down to Bhubaneswar. They are going from house to house wherever people are having issues as regards to electrical appliances or plumbing." "We are going to intensify the initiative of 'helping hand' in days to come. We are going to take up this work in Puri. Water supply has been restored in all urban areas both in quality and quantity." More than 40 people have died due to Cyclone Fani in Odisha.

New therapy can heal damage of heart attack

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Researchers have discovered a therapy through which they can induce heart cells to regenerate after a heart attack. Myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack, caused by the sudden blocking of one of the cardiac coronary arteries, is the main cause of heart failure, a condition that now affects over 23 million populations in the world, according to the study published in Journal Nature. At present, when patients survive a heart attack, they are left with permanent structural damage to their heart through the formation of a scar, which can lead to heart failure in the future. Researchers have delivered a small piece of genetic material, called microRNA-199, to the heart of pigs, after a myocardial infarction which resulted in the almost complete recovery of cardiac function at one month later.

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): People searching for misinformation through anti-vaccine hashtags on Instagram will have hard luck as the Facebook-owned company is cracking down on posts which deliver false information. Instagram has confirmed to Engadget that it will block hashtags that surface false information regarding vaccinations. The company has previously blocked hashtags that are too obvious about misinformation, such as #vaccinescauseautism.
