Shimla (HP), May 10 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, chairman of Indian Overseas Congress, Sam Pitroda on his remarks over 1984 anti-Sikh riots said, "The statement I made was completely twisted, taken out of context because my Hindi isn't good, what I meant was 'jo hua vo bura hua,' I couldn't translate 'bura' in my mind. What I meant was move on. We have other issues to discuss as to what BJP government did and what it delivered. I feel sorry that my remark was misrepresented, I apologise. This has been blown out of proportion."

Ticket concession, coaches for women: The latest from Indian Railways

Eager to reduce its huge subsidy burden, the Indian Railway has now given senior citizens the option of foregoing concession on purchase of reserved class tickets. Besides, it has started printing the real cost involved in the train journey on the tickets to make passengers aware of the subsidy borne by the public transporter. Subsidies cost the public sector behemoth about Rs 1,600 crore in the last fiscal on account of concessions extended to passengers in various categories including senior citizens, sports awardees and cancer patients, among others.

The constituency is set to go to polls on May 12.

IPS Chhaya Sharma awarded McCain Institute Award for courage and leadership in USA

Watch: Tusker charges car in Karnataka's Mudumalai

Mudumalai (Karnataka), May 10 (ANI): An elephant tried to charge a car while crossing the road in Karnataka's Mudumalai. The incident took place when the herd of elephants was roaming around. Meanwhile, an elephant tried to cross the road and suddenly turned and charged a car. The driver quickly put his car in reverse and narrowly escaped the elephant as it chased them down the road. Mudumalai is also known for its Tiger Reserve which is about 240 Km from Bangalore and about 90 Km from Mysore.

Bhim Sena stage protest over Alwar rape case

Jaipur (Rajasthan) : Bhim Sena on Friday staged a protest against Alwar rape case in Rajasthan's Jaipur. They demanded justice for the victim. Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan was also present in protest. On April 26, the accused stopped a couple's motorcycle on Thanagaji-Alwar road and beat the husband. They stripped the couple and raped the woman in front of her husband. One of accused also shot a video.
