Ludhiana (Punjab), May 13 (ANI): Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday recalled the 2008 Mumbai attacks, and said while the shootings were taking place inside the Oberoi Hotel, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh was busy inviting a producer to get his son a role in film. Goyal also criticised the Congress government for not taking a strong action against the 2008 attacks and termed it a "coward" government. "I am from Mumbai; you might remember the 26/11 terror attack. The then Congress government was weak and couldn't do anything. The then CM had brought a film producer outside Oberoi Hotel while shooting and bombing was going on inside. CM was concerned about getting his child a film role," Goyal said at a business meet in Punjab's Ludhiana. >

Kerala's 'most-loved' elephant participates in Thrissur Pooram festival

Thrissur (Kerala), May 12 (ANI): Kerala's tallest elephant 'Thechikottukavu Ramachandran' was given conditional nod on Saturday to participate in the famed Thrissur pooram after the animal cleared the fitness test.'Thechikottukavu Ramachandran' was paraded at the Vadakkunnathan Temple on Sunday amid tight security. The ceremony is also known as 'Pooram Vilambaram'. Huge crowd had gathered around the Vadakkunnathan Temple to see Ramachandran. The annual 'pooram' festival, considered as the mother of all temple festivals in the state.The clearance to the government was given after a team of three veterinarians conducted the medical examination of the elephant.

Khandwa (MP), May 12 (ANI): On Sunday, country has participated in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections. People came out of their houses and exercised their right to vote in different parts of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a public rally in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa. While addressing the rally, he slammed Congress candidate from Bhopal Digvijaya Singh over cops wearing saffron scarves at his rally. He said, "They even stitch saffron dresses for police, but what they conspire to put blot of terrorism in saffron, they can't escape from this sin," said PM Modi.

Patna (Bihar), May 12 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on attack over BJP candidate from West Champaran Parliamentary Constituency, Sanjay Jaiswal in Bihar's Narkatiaganj today, Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar HR Srinivasa said, "An instigating speech was made after which situation got intense. Police immediately intervened, now everything is going on peacefully. I will take a report. There were sticks in some people's hand and Member of Parliament's (MP) bodyguard had also fired in the air." TMC workers allegedly attacked BJP candidate Bharati Ghosh at Kali temple in WB's Keshpur

Keshpur (West Bengal), May 12 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers have allegedly threw stones at Kali temple in West Bengal's Keshpur where former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bharati Ghosh took shelter. Rapid Action Force (RAF) resorted to baton charge to control the situation. She was earlier heckled by few women in WB's Ghatal and was later rescued. BJP has alleged that TMC was behind the attack and vehicle in her convoy was also vandalised. Bharati Ghosh is contesting against Bengali actor-turned-lawmaker Deepak Adhikari, popularly known as Dev of TMC in Ghatal. Additional security has been deployed in WB keeping in mind the frequent poll related violence in mind. She was the West Midnapore Superintendent of Police (SP) for more than six years and was transferred as commandant of the third battalion of the state armed police on December 26, 2018. Prakash Javadekar blames TMC for violence in West Bengal

New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Amid the ongoing sixth phase of Lok Sabha election, Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar accused Trinamool Congress for incidents of violence in West Bengal. "Body of booth number 113 president Ramesh Singh has been found in Jhargram. In Ghatal our candidate Bharti Ghosh is being injured after stone pelting on her car. Her can has been seized by the local authorities. This violence of TMC is its desperation.
