Cyclone Fani intensifies, to move towards Odisha coast: IMD Chennai

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 01 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on Cyclone Fani and current weather situation in the affected states, Chennai's Deputy Director General of Meteorology (Sc. 'F'), S Balachandran said, "The cyclonic storm Fani, on April 29 intensified into serious cyclonic storm and on April 30 morning it intensified into very severe cyclonic storm. Further, it is expected to move in the northwest direction till May 01 and after that it will slowly move in northeast direction towards Odisha coast." "Fani cyclone is a severe cyclonic storm. It is premature to immediately compare it," he added.

Total number of BJP workers are 11 crore and they all will say 'Khandan chor hai'. Lekhi filed a criminal contempt petition against Rahul Gandhi over his 'chowkidar chor hai remark.

Kate Middleton receives special honour from Queen Elizabeth on wedding anniversary

New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Kate Middleton has been named as the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, the highest possible rank. The honour was a gift from Queen Elizabeth to her granddaughter-in-law on the eighth wedding anniversary of the Duchess of Cambridge. The ruling monarch personally selects its recipient, as reported by People. The Royal Victorian Order was created by Queen Victoria in 1896 to allow her to recognize people who helped her or represented her. The position of Grand Master of the Order was created in 1937 and was occupied by the Queen Mother until her death in 2002. Queen Elizabeth then appointed her daughter, Princess Anne, to the spot in 2007. The honour comes just weeks after Kate and the Queen stepped out for their first-ever joint outing when the duo visited King's College's Strand campus in London.

19-year-old raped inside moving car in Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Apr 30 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Police has registered a case of rape of a 19-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped inside a moving car in Shimla. The matter was reported to the police by the victim through state-run 'Gudiya' helpline and the case was registered with the Dhalli Police Station under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), and investigation under the case is on, said Pramod Shukla who is the spokesperson of the Shimla District Police.

BRO's snow clearing operation at Rohtang Pass in full swing

Rohtang (HP), Apr 30 (ANI): The Border Road Organization (BRO) is putting its efforts with full force to clear snow on the Manali-Leh road. BRO team has already cleared 46-kilometer stretch of the road. Another team from Lahaul-Spiti district is yet to clear nearly 27 kilometers to reach Rohtang Pass. The engineers say this operation will take few weeks to complete. BRO Engineers are facing barrier due to sudden weather change. Five teams have been engaged at different locations.

Ammonia gas leaks from oil mill in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 30 (ANI): Ammonia gas leakage occurred in Lucknow's Haiderganj area on Tuesday. The incident occurred after a pipe burst at an oil mill. No casualties have been reported. Police said, "There was ammonia gas leakage after a pipe burst, it was contained immediately, investigation will be conducted into the matter. There are no casualties."

LS polls: Residents of this HP district demands better road connectivity

Rohtang Pass (HP), Apr 30 (ANI): Residents of rugged, high mountain passes of Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district are demanding better connectivity of roads in this election season. Locals there face many problems due to heavy snow fall every year. Rohtang Pass is the only connection with Manali for people in Lahaul-Spiti.The landlocked Lahaul Valley, comprising over two dozen small and scattered villages, remains cut off owing to heavy snow accumulation from December onwards on the Rohtang Pass (13,050 feet) - the people in Lahaul and Spiti are cut off from the rest of the world owing to closure of road links with onset of snowfall in December. Rohtang Pass is a gateway to Lahaul and Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh.Himachal Pradesh's people will cast their vote in the last phase of elections to be held on May 19.

Fire at Shastri Bhawan under control in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Fire broke out at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi earlier today. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The reason behind the fire has not been ascertained yet. A fire official, informed, "The fire broke out at the top floor in the waste material of cooler and electrical wires. The reason behind the fire has not been ascertained. Indian Army claims to find footprint of mythical 'Yeti'

New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): In a first, the expedition team of Indian Army claimed to have spotted footprints of mythical beast 'Yeti.' The size of the footprints is enormous 32x15 inches. The Army expedition team have spotted the gigantic footprint close to Makalu Base Camp on April 09. According to the Additional Directorate General of Public Information official Twitter handle the elusive snowman has been sighted at Makalu-Barun National Park in the past. "For the first time, an #IndianArmy Moutaineering Expedition Team has sited Mysterious Footprints of mythical beast 'Yeti' measuring 32x15 inches close to Makalu Base Camp on 09 April 2019. This elusive snowman has only been sighted at Makalu-Barun National Park in the past." The creature named 'Yeti' is believed to be taller than the average human and to resemble an ape. But scientists have long been sceptical about the existence of the Yeti, which is also called the abominable snowman.

'Everyone knows Rahul born here': Priyanka Gandhi on Congress president's citizenship row

Amethi (UP), Apr 30 (ANI): Congress General Secretary from Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday reacted over Ministry of Home Affairs notice asking Rahul Gandhi to respond to a foreign citizenship allegation. Rubbishing the allegations she said, "The whole of India knows that Rahul Gandhi is an Indian. People have seen him being born and grow up in India." The MHA asked the Congress president to clarify his position on his nationality after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy cited a British company's document to allege that Rahul Gandhi is a British national. The MHA has asked Rahul Gandhi to respond in the matter within a fortnight.

Took advice of all senior leaders: Priyanka Gandhi on not contesting from Varanasi

Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 30 (ANI): Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday finally cleared the air as to why she decided against contesting from the Varanasi parliamentary constituency after hinting the same, and said she took advice from all the senior party leaders who felt that she should not focus on a single seat, and oversee the 41 seats of which she has been given responsibility for. "I took advice of all senior leaders of our party and colleagues in UP. They firmly felt that I have responsibility here of looking after 41 seats. New Delhi, Apr 30 (ANI): Congress leader and Congress president Rahul Gandhi's Counsel Abhishek Singhvi informed that Gandhi has expressed his 'regret' over attributing his 'Chowkidar Chor hai remark to Supreme Court. But as the Supreme Court pointed out that Gandhi had only expressed his 'regret' and had 'not apologised' for his statement, hence Singhvi informed that the Congress president will file an additional affidavit in which he will 'apologise' particularly for attributing the Apex Court in his comment.
