Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Apr 10 (ANI): The mortal remains of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bhima Mandavi were brought to the party's office in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada on Wednesday. The MLA, his driver and 3 PSOS lost their lives in a Naxal attack in Dantewada on Tuesday. MLA Mandavi was travelling in the last vehicle of the convoy which was hit by IED blast. IED blast was followed by a round of firing by Naxals.
Banaskantha (Gujarat), Apr 10 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at an oil mill in Gujarat's Banaskantha on Wednesday. The incident happened in Chandisar area. Fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire. No injuries have been reported.
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 10 (ANI): Prayagraj police busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting gang and arrested nine bookies on Tuesday. Police recovered cash worth Rs 3,86,000, 20 mobile phones, 1 laptop and 1 power bank from the spot. The gang was receiving bets for an IPL match being played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. The accused were booked under the Gambling Act and also for cheating. Further investigations are underway in the case.
Agartala (Tripura), Apr 10 (ANI): Security personnel cast their vote one day ahead of polling dates. They had cast their vote through postal ballot. As many as 2535 service voters cast their votes at several polling stations. Adequate service measures have to be taken during elections for the smooth flow in Tripura. In Tripura West Parliamentary constituency which covers four districts of the state, total 647840 electors are going to cast their vote in 787 polling stations of which 21 has been identified as vulnerable and 111 critical polling stations. Special vigilance by Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) has been arranged for security purpose. Tripura West will go to the polls in the first phase on April 11 and Tripura East in the second phase on April 18.
Jajpur (Odisha), Apr 10 (ANI): Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a transgender candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Kajal Kinnar Nayak filed her nomination for the Korei Assembly constituency on Tuesday. Korei is a Vidhan Sabha constituency of Jajpur district. Speaking to ANI, Kajal Kinnar Nayak said, "I can't believe how much love I got from the public despite being a transgender."
New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): A team of doctors and a surgery robot named Da Vinci removed the world's largest ureteric stone by surgery on March 23 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The stone measured 22 centimetres and weighed 60 grams in total. It is the longest ureteric stone reported to date. The longest ureteric stone removed prior to this was 21.5 centimetres long, according to doctor Kathuria. The patient named Natasha, a resident of Saharanpur, was admitted in the hospital on March 22 and the operation took place on March 23. The surgery for removing the stone took four hours to complete. Interestingly, the patient was completely pain-free and unaware of the massive stone that lay inside her body. Kidney stones are a very common occurrence in this part of the country. Large stone growth is also not uncommon and they need a multitude of treatment to remove them completely.
Vijayawada (AP) Apr 10 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, on the issue of Income Tax raided different locations of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Member of Parliament (MP) Jayadev Galla, party's spokesperson Lanka Dinakaran said, "I-T Dept should not conduct such raids without proper intimation to Election Commission, we don't know whether these raids are happening with Election Commission's approval or just on instructions of PM Modi-led government as per list given by Jaganmohan Reddy."
Greater Noida (UP) Apr 10 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida-based 26-year-old mechanical engineer, Ramveer Tanwar, has quit his job with MNC for a cause of reviving nearby ponds. He has saved ten ponds till date in the past five years. He has seen the water mistreatment since his childhood in his area. He has focussed on cleaning of ponds by natural, simple and cost effective ways like making filter system and encouraging the farmers to do fishery. He has also been recently funded by government and private organisations for the cause. Now, he is looking forward to continue his work with more ponds of his village and the nearby areas.
Guntur (AP) Apr 10 (ANI): Income tax sleuths on Tuesday raided different locations related to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Jayadev Galla. While speaking to mediapersons, he said, "It is happening at three locations where my election team was staying. I am demanding an explanation on why we are being targeted. This country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going down a fascist path. Because I have spoken against him, initiated a no-confidence motion against him, I am being targeted like this. Why is TDP being targeted in Andhra Pradesh? If Election Commission and all government agencies are working impartially, then it should be happening to people of all parties. This is an attempt by Narendra Modi to influence the elections. We are moving towards a state of emergency in the country."

Thrissur (Kerala) Apr 10 (ANI): A class 10th student Krishna from Kerala's Thrissur was seen riding a horse to her board exam in school uniform. She wished to ride a horse to attend her Board exams. She said, "I don't go daily on horse. Only on some special days, or when I get bored and also during some exams. If you ask me what was special, on that day was the last day of my 10th board examination." "One of my friend said that riding horse is not that easy and it's not possible for a girl to do that. He said it is only possible for women like "Jhansi Ki Rani". So I thought why a normal girl can't ride a horse."
New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): After declining any compensation or benefits for the past three years, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey took home USD 1.40 in salary last year. As CNET reports, it was the first time Dorsey took the salary since his return to the micro-blogging site in 2015. He declined all compensation in the previous years for Twitter's long-term value creation potential. His salary comes out to one cent for each of the 140 characters Twitter users were previously allowed to include in tweets. By that calculation, in the next year, Dorsey might receive a doubled salary of USD 2.80 as the character limit of tweets has been extended to 280 characters. Dorsey is not the only top executive to take home the symbolic salary. Other top tech chiefs who have taken home minimal executive paychecks include Apple's Steve Jobs, Google's Eric Schmidt, Sergey Brin, and Larry Page, and Oracle's Larry Ellison, among others.
Songadh (Gujarat) Apr 10 (ANI): People of Mal village of Songadh Tehsil nearly 30km away from Ukai Dam is facing water scarcity. Villagers are dependent on water tanks and government hand pumps. A borewell was being drilled here today. This is the same village, where people have boycotted Vidhan Sabha election, due to lack of proper road connectivity towards their village and surprisingly, this is the same village where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a rally on Wednesday. While speaking to ANI a local said, "We start queuing up outside handpumps at 3-4 am so that water can be collected for morning meals". Another villager said, "We had earlier boycotted elections in demand of road, and will boycott LS polls again if our demands are not fulfilled."
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) Apr 10 (ANI): Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel condemned the Tuesday's Naxal attack in Dantewada, which killed BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi and four others but denied any security failure."Had Bheema Mandavi listened to the police, he would be alive now. But he did not heed their advice sent the DRG force back. He went out without giving prior information, the Chief Minister said, while addressing a press conference. The police station in-charge also called and told Mandavi about the security situation. There is no security failure and there is no conspiracy either."

During the rally he urged the first time voters to cast their vote wisely. He said, "I urge the first time voters to cast their vote very sincerely. Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Apr 09 (ANI): The polling parties on Tuesday departed for their respective polling stations in Tehri Garhwal Parliamentary constituency. The polling officers collected the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and went toward their respected polling booths. The 5 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state will undergo polling in the first phase of 17th Lok Sabha polls on 11 April. The counting of votes will begin on May 23. Main parties are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). For phase 1 Lok Sabha election on April 11 the number of polling centres are 11235.
Meerut (UP), Apr 09 (ANI): While addressing a public rally in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "When Rahul Gandhi went to file his nomination from Wayanad in Kerala, there was this green flag of the Muslim League, we need to see where Congress will lead this country towards. This is not just with Congress, but SP, BSP, Lok Dal and other parties have become so entangled for the need of power that they are not bothered about the security of the country. You might have listened to BSP chief Mayawati's speech, where she said if they get just the Muslim votes then they don't need anything else and so I want to say that if Congress, SP and BSP has faith on 'Ali' we have faith on 'Bajrangbali."
Chitradurga (Karnataka), Apr 09 (ANI): After addressing people in Maharashtra's Latur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed another rally in Karnataka's Chitradurga. During the rally he slammed Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy over Balakot airstrikes while campaigning in the state and asked if CM Kumaraswamy's vote bank was in India or Pakistan. "We attacked terror in Pakistan, but some people in India felt the pain. The CM here went a step further, he said talk of the valour of our forces should not be done, it damages his vote bank. I want to ask him, is your vote bank in India or Pakistan?" said PM Modi.
Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Apr 09 (ANI): BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi was killed after his convoy was attacked by Naxals in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh today. DIG of Anti-Naxal Operations, P Sundar Raj said, "As per preliminary information, BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi, his driver and 3 PSOs were killed in the IED blast in Dantewada, today evening. It was a powerful IED blast. Bodies will be evacuated at the earliest for identification." According to CRPF, the escort vehicle of Chhattisgarh State Police came under the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast and 5 personnel of Chhattisgarh State Police are critically injured. The convoy of Mandavi came under attack between Kuakonta and Syamgiri area in Dantewada. Reinforcement of CRPF has rushed to the spot.
Bhopal (MP), Apr 09 (ANI): The Income Tax (I-T) raids continued on Tuesday morning at the residence of Ashwin Sharma, who is an associate of Praveen Kakkar. Praveen Kakkar is an officer on special duty (OSD) of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Security has also been beefed up at his residence. Raids began on April 7 at the residence of Praveen Kakkar in MP's Indore and former advisor to Kamal Nath R K Miglani in Delhi on charges of alleged tax evasion. According to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official, "All I can tell him, it's not about jurisdiction. We were following govt orders. Raids are now over. MP Police's SHO Chouhan and DSP misbehaved with CRPF and hurled abuses at us. Since the matter has gone to a higher level, if I am asked about it, I'll definitely tell them."
