EAM Swaraj meets Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

Male (Maldives), Mar 18 (ANI): Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday met Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and held a meeting with him. Soon after meeting President Solih on second day of her visit, Swaraj also held a meeting with Maldives' Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla and discussed relevant cooperation projects and future collaboration efforts. Swaraj reached Maldives on Sunday and held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Shahid. Swaraj's visit to Maldives is expected to further strengthen the close and friendly relations between India and Maldives.

Mortal remains of Goa CM Manohar Parrikar brought to BJP office in Panaji

Panaji (Goa), Mar 18 (ANI): The mortal remains of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar have been brought to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Panaji for state leaders to pay their last respects. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also reached the BJP office to pay his last respects to the 63-year-old leader, who breathed his last on Sunday evening at his residence. Parrikar was suffering from pancreatic ailment since last year. Parrikar's mortal remains would be kept at the BJP office for an hour and will be moved to Kala Academy for the public to pay their last respects. The state of Goa will also be observing seven-day mourning to grieve the loss of the late chief minister.

BJP, allies meet in Panaji to discuss govt formation

Panaji (Goa), Mar 18 (ANI): Union Minister and senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who arrived in Panaji late Sunday night following the death of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, met with leaders of alliance partners of the state's coalition government to discuss leadership issue. Late on Sunday night, Gadkari and BJP's General Secretary BL Satosh met with BJP MLAs and MLAs from alliance parties. Manohar Parrikar passed away on Sunday evening after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer.

Manohar Parrikar's final journey today, mortal remains being taken to BJP office in Panaji

Panaji (Goa), Mar 18 (ANI): Manohar Parrikar, four-time Goa chief minister and former defence minister, passed away on Sunday evening after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. The senior BJP leader will be accorded a state funeral with full military honours. Goa had also announced seven-day mourning after the chief minister's death. Parrikar's mortal remains are being taken to BJP office in Panaji. His body will be kept for public viewing until 4 pm, after which the funeral procession to Miramar area in the capital will be held. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be in Goa for the funeral.

Pakistani woman married in India set to cast vote in Lok Sabha elections

Gurdaspur (Punjab), Mar 18 (ANI): A woman from Pakistan Tahira Maqbool, who got married to an Indian is set to cast vote for 17th Lok Sabha for the first time. She has urged Indians to exercise their voting rights. Tahira got married to Maqbool Ahmed in December, 2003. The couple had a long struggle to receive the Indian citizenship for Tahira. She received Indian citizenship on April 12, 2016. Her husband Maqbool said, "it would be a matter of happiness that my wife will cast vote along with me. She has never voted before."

The results of the study were published in 'European Journal of Endocrinology.' The study suggests that mentally draining work such as teaching may increase the risk of diabetes in women. The study suggests that employers and women should be more aware of the potential health risks associated with mentally tiring work.Type 2 diabetes is an increasingly prevalent disease that places a huge burden on patients and society and can lead to significant health problems including heart attacks, strokes, blindness and kidney failure. Numerous factors can increase the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes including obesity, diet, exercise, smoking or a family history of the disease.
