COVID-19: Mumbai based car accessories owner manufactures 'isolation covers' for cabs, taxis

Mumbai, May 09 (ANI): As a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 between passenger and driver, a Mumbai based car accessories shop owner, Vicky Nagpal has started manufacturing 'isolation covers' for cabs and taxis. The owner is making 25 pieces per day and it takes 2 hours to make single isolation cover. Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra stands at 19,063, which includes 731 deaths so far.

Vande Bharat Mission: Stranded Indian expresses gratitude to govt

CM Gehlot reviews drinking water arrangements in Rajasthan

Work resumes in Greater Noida's Oppo mobile factory

Greater Noida (UP), May 09 (ANI): Oppo mobile factory on May 09 resumed its operations with limited number of employees after government's permission. The employees were brought to the factories by buses. An employee informed that the company has permission to start work with 3,000 employees. COVID-19: 'Prepared for worst situation', says Health Minister Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan held a review meeting on COVID-19 with north eastern states on May 09 via video conferencing. During the meeting, Minister Vardhan said that whole has been prepared for the worst situation. He said, "We do not anticipate a very worst type of situation in our country like many other developed countries but still we have prepared the whole country for the worst situation." "Our fatality rate in the country continues to be around 3.3% and the recovery rate has climbed up to 29.9%, these are very good indicators. Doubling rate for last 3 days has been about 11 days, for last 7 days it has been 9.9 days," he further added. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 59,662 as of May 9.

Dehradun administration tracking people in home quarantine using GPS

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), May 09 (ANI): Dehradun administration has come with up technological savvy ways to keep a check on those in home quarantine to prevent spread of COVID-19. The administration is using GPS tracking application. Once downloaded into mobile phone of quarantined person, the app sends alerts to Dehradun's command and control centre. Alerts are generated if there is no activity on the mobile phone for 30 minutes, so that COVID-19 patient cannot roam outside market putting phone at home.

Migrant labourers in Delhi plan to travel to Bihar by cycles

New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): A migrant labourer in Delhi bought cycle to travel to home district in Bihar amid lockdown 3.0. "I was facing problem after the company I was working for was shut, so I decided to go home. I asked people from my home to deposit money, I got Rs 4,000 of which I bought cycle worth Rs 3,500 to travel to Bihar," said a migrant labourer. Group of migrants from his home state also joined him on cycles.

Railway staff preparing food for migrant workers at Moradabad's IRCTC kitchen

Moradabad (UP), May 09 (ANI): Railway staffers have come together at Moradabad railway station to prepare food at Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) kitchen for the migrant labourers arriving from the special trains. Indian Railways on May 1 started Shramik Special trains to move migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and others stranded at different places due to lockdown.

4 Naxals, 1 cop killed during encounter in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon

Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), May 09 (ANI): Four Naxals were gunned down by security forces in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon. A policeman lost his life in encounter. Gun battle took place in Pardhoni village under Manpur police station limits. According to the police, one AK-47 rifle, 1 SLR weapon and two .315 bore rifles were recovered.
