COVID-19: Health Ministry, AIIMS Delhi to conduct nationwide online training for doctors and nurses

New Delhi, Mar 28(ANI): Union Health Ministry, Joint Secretary, Lav Agarwal announced that All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) National Teleconsultation Centre (CoNTeC) has been inaugurated. He said that doctors across the country can get clinical guidance on COVID-19 patients through this centre. Lav Agarwal also assured that in the next 4-5 days, Health Ministry along with AIIMS Delhi will conduct nationwide online training of doctors and nurses on the management and follow-up guidelines of COVID-19 suspected patients.

COVID-19: CM Kejriwal requests migrants not to leave Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 28 addressed the people of Delhi. He said, "I have asked MLAs to request migrant workers to not leave Delhi as we have made arrangements for all. I will appeal that initiative of lockdown taken by PM is necessary to contain this epidemic. If people will migrate then COVID-19 cases will rise."

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 are continuously increasing in the country and to stop the infection of the dreadful virus, Centre has imposed 21 days nationwide lockdown.

COVID-19: CRPF distributes masks, sanitizers to locals in JandK's Shopian

Shopian (JandK), Mar 28 (ANI): 14 battalion of CRPF jawans distributed masks and sanitizers to locals in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on March 28. Shortage of masks and hand sanitizers at medical stores were reported at several parts of the country. A nationwide lockdown has been imposed by the Centre in view of coronavirus. Till now, more than 800 people have been infected with deadly coronavirus and 19 people have lost their lives.

Pune (Maharashtra), Mar 28 (ANI): While nation is under 21 days of lockdown to stop the spreading of dreadful COVID-19, stray animals, who are totally dependent on the leftover foods are starving. An NGO in Maharashtra's Pune pick up the gauntlet to feed the stray animals. The NGO is trying to cover every nook and corner of the city to feed the animals.

COVID-19: Haryana's rotary club opens community kitchen, provides food to needy

Faridabad (Haryana), Mar 28 (ANI): Rotary Club of Faridabad Sanskar opened a community kitchen. They are distributing food among the needy amid coronavirus lockdown. "We are providing food to migrant workers heading towards their native places. We distributed around 2,000 packets yesterday", said a member of the organisation. The migrant labourers are worst affected social section due to COVID-19. Till now, more than 800 people have been infected with deadly coronavirus and 19 people have lost their lives.

Power Minister assures of no interruption in electricity supply during lockdown

New Delhi, Mar 28(ANI): Minister of State of Power and Renewable Energy, RK Singh on 24*7 electricity supply during lockdown said that there will be no interruption in the electricity supply. He also said that the electricity distribution companies are facing problems in money collection and are not able to pay for the power consumed therefore, all electricity generation companies have been directed to not regulate power till June 30. RK Singh further announced that the amount in the Letter of Trade, submitted by the distribution companies or state government to withdraw power, has been reduced to half."The delay charges will also be halved for both distribution companies and common man," said the Union Minister.

Two Noida boys take on delivery duty of essential items to enforce lockdown

Noida (UP), Mar 28(ANI): Amidst PM Narendra Modi's 21 day 'National Lockdown' due to coronavirus pandemic two youths, Gaurav and Sarthak, of Noida took the initiative and delivered food items in residential areas without charging delivery fee. The youths did not charge extra fee for the home delivery of the essential items including milk, bread, fruits and vegetables. Guarav said that one day when he came to purchase milk and saw huge lines outside shops and people were not maintaining social distancing. He said, "We thought that we can do something for our society by providing them basic essentials at their doorstep." Gaurav said, "Our endeavour is to ensure that people don't face any kind of problem. We are taking all precautions".

Truck drivers stuck in different states due to nationwide lockdown

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Mar 28 (ANI): Amid the nationwide lockdown, the truck drivers who had come to deliver essential goods are stuck in different states. "We have nothing to eat, we are stuck here since March 19," a truck driver said. A total of 873 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India, along with 19 deaths. On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country to deal with the spread of coronavirus.

Railways convert train into isolation ward to fight coronavirus pandemic

New Delhi, Mar 28(ANI): The Indian Railways has prepared isolation coaches to fight the coronavirus pandemic. As of now, one prototype has been converted into the isolation ward. Indian Railways said that if the design is finalised, then in every zone, 10 coaches per week will be converted into isolation ward. This step has been taken in wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India. So far, the number of coronavirus infected people has risen to 873.

Coronavirus lockdown: Locals pelt stones at police personnel in Assam

Bongaigaon (Assam), Mar 28 (ANI): Assam Police alleged that some locals pelted stones at personnel against the nationwide lockdown in the wake of coronavirus. "When policemen asked shopkeepers to shut the market, some locals attacked them. Four arrested and case registered," Bongaigaon's Superintendents of Police RS Milli said.

Around 450 people struck in Jammu who came to attend Vaishno Devi Yatra

Jammu, Mar 28(ANI): Around 450 people from Patna, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Haryana who came for Vaishno Devi Yatra are stranded in Jammu due to national lockdown. The devotees arrived at Jammu on March 20 and had return bookings on March 22. "Though the government has made all arrangements but people are still keen on returning back to their homes," said a devotee.

"Everything is closed but our services continue. We have also distributed our contact number for home delivery services," Sitaram Das Baba told ANI. Migrant workers take buses from Ghaziabad's Lal Kuan after walking on foot from Delhi

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 28 (ANI): Amid the nationwide lockdown in the wake of pandemic coronavirus, migrant workers continued to return to their villages in other states. Large number of migrant workers reached Lal Kuan bus stand in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad after walking on foot from Delhi, Gurugram and other places. Hundreds of migrant workers had gathered at Kaushambi Bus Station to take buses to their respective hometowns within the state. However, Centre has asked state governments to provide food, shelter and basic amenities to unorganised sectors' stranded migrant workers to prevent a nationwide exodus of labourers.

COVID-19: Rickshaw pullers stopped at Akshardham flyover from leaving Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Amid the nationwide lockdown in the wake of pandemic coronavirus, migrant workers in Delhi including rickshaw pullers are forced to return their hometown as they say they have nothing left to eat in the national capital. However, the police stopped them at the Akshardham flyover, and sent them back after promising them that a bus will be arranged for them for their transport. One of the rickshaw pullers, who lives at footpath said, "Police aren't allowing us to go any further; they say we'll be sent to our homes on a bus."
