New Delhi, Mar 30 (ANI): World Health Organization cleared one of the myths on coronavirus spread. WHO informed that frequent or excessive alcohol consumption does not protect you against COVID-19. Instead the consumption can be extremely dangerous and increase the risk. WHO recently also informed that smoking can also increase the risk of COVID-19 infection.

'No fuel crisis in India', informs India Oil Chairman

Union Ministers hold high-level meeting on COVID-19

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): A high-level meeting of Union Ministers on COVID-19 was held at the residence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Home Minister Amit Shah, IandB Minister Prakash Javadekar, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior ministers also attended the meeting. The death toll of coronavirus in country has mounted to 25 now, while over 850 positive cases have been reported. The country went under nationwide lockdown to curb the pandemic after announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

No dearth of food and water in Delhi, says Kejriwal on exodus of migrant workers

New Delhi, Mar 29 (ANI): Reiterating his government's commitment to not leave anyone go hungry, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 29 said that there is no dearth of food and water in the national capital, urging the migrant labourers to not leave the city due to the national lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic. "Delhi government is providing lunch and dinner to more than 4 lakh people every day. We are putting in all the efforts to make sure that everyone gets food in the national capital. There is no dearth of food and water," Kejriwal said even as thousands of migrant workers are fleeing the city for their native places in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other states.

COVID-19: Health Ministry explains parameters of high risk cases

New Delhi, Mar 29(ANI): Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal, on number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators said that this data is being monitored at state level, adding that high risk cases, which include age/contact history as criteria and are found serious, are being closely monitored. "I don't have the exact figures right now," said Lav Agarwal. On the screening of the daily wage workers who are returning to their states, Agarwal said that states have already been given the guidelines which were implemented on international travellers at airports.

Chennai-returned villagers in WB's Purulia isolate themselves on treehouses

Purulia (West Bengal), Mar 29 (ANI): Seven residents of Vangidi village in Balarampur area of West Bengal's Purulia, who returned from Chennai amid coronavirus pandemic, found a novel way to isolate themselves after doctor advised them home quarantine for 14 days. Since the Chennai-returned labourers didn't have separate room in their houses, they decided to stay on tree where platforms were already made for observing elephants which are known for attacking the village.

Protection Force distributes food to the needy in Patna

Patna (Bihar), Mar 29 (ANI): Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel distributed food to the needy people in Patna amidst the corona lockdown in the country. Senior Commandant of RPF, SKS Rathore said, "Food is being prepared at IRCTC kitchens and our personnel are distributing it to poor." Police blocks roads leading to border areas to prevent mass exodus

New Delhi, Mar 29(ANI): Delhi Police on March 29 blocked the roads going towards Anand Vihar and nearby locations as a precautionary measure to avoid COVID-19 spread. On March 28, daily wage workers thronged the Anand Vihar Bus depot to board the buses to their respective cities/villages. Post Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's request and announcement of the arrangements, the daily wage workers gathered at the depot in huge numbers. Because of which, social distancing and all precautionary measures for COVID-19 went for a toss.

Health Ministry confirms 106 new positive cases and 6 deaths

New Delhi, Mar 29(ANI): Union Health Ministry, Joint Secreatry, Lav Agarwal confirmed 979 coronavirus cases in the country including 25 deaths so far. He said that in the last 24 hours the country has reported 106 new positive cases and 6 deaths. Lav Agarwal said, "All 6 deaths have been reported from 6 different states." Joint Secretary said that we are working towards identifying emerging hotspots and are implementing rigorous cluster containment strategy in these hotspots.
