Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Feb 15 (ANI): Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat inaugurated 'Doctor Hedgewar Bhawan' in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, also known as 'Doctorji', founded RSS in Nagpur in 1925. Bhagwat also offered prayers to 'Bharat Mata'.

Doctor allegedly committed suicide in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (UP), Feb 15 (ANI): A resident doctor allegedly committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on February 14 after consuming a poisonous substance. The incident took place in Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad. The deceased has been identified as Vivek Kumar resident of Delhi's Yamuna Vihar. He was an intern at Santosh Medical College and Hospital in Ghaziabad. He used to live alone in a rented house in H-Block of Kavi Nagar area. Police also found a suicide note from the spot. Police investigation is underway in this regard.

'Covid-19' death toll jumps to over 1500

New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): The death toll from the Novel Coronavirus has risen to 1,523, while the number of confirmed cases reached 66,492. As many as 139 people died on Feb 15 in Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak which reported the first case of the new strain of coronavirus in December, last year. WHO also confirmed first 'Covid-19' case in Egypt. The virus has since then spread to several countries across the world, including India.

SFT holds 'Majestic Walk' to mark Tibet's 107th Independence Day

Dharamshala (HP), Feb 15 (ANI): A majestic walk by Students for a Free Tibet (SFT-India) was held to commemorate the 107th anniversary of declaration of Tibetan Independence Day by 13th Dalai Lama in 1913. Street parade was held in Dharamshala. Students dressed in traditional attire participated in the march.

Conducting pilgrimages for devotees not govt's job: Govind Singh

Bhopal (MP), Feb 15 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Minister and Congress leader Govind Singh said that 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojna' should be scrapped as it was not the government's job to conduct religious pilgrimages. "Conducting religious pilgrimages is not the government's job, although no decision on it has been taken by the government, but it is my personal opinion. Giving facilities to devotees, helping them is alright but organising pilgrimages on government funds is not correct as per me. The pilgrimage should be conducted on the money earned by the people themselves," Singh told ANI.

Children miss more school when their mothers experience physical violence: Study

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Children of mothers who experience physical violence tend to miss more school, suggests a study. The study found that 23.3 percent of women who experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) reported their child's school attendance was disrupted. The study used baseline data from a sub-sample of 659 women in Mexico City who recently experienced IPV and reported having a child under age 18. Researchers identified four distinct classes of IPV experiences: Low Physical and Sexual Violence, Low Physical and High Sexual Violence, High Physical and Low Sexual Violence and Injuries, and High Physical and Sexual Violence and Injuries.

Meet Hobbi, Facebook's experimental Pinterest-like app

New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): Facebook has quietly launched a new app called Hobbi that is aimed at helping you organise your creative projects. Similar to Pinterest, Hobbi lets you save photos of the projects you are working on, such as DIY, arts and crafts, baking, or home decor. You can also save your visual collections, create highlight videos, and share your progress, according to the app's description on the App Store. Hobbi is currently available only in select markets. It has been developed by Facebook's NPE team that builds experimental products.

Youth Congress makes rotis using dry dung fuel to protest LPG gas price hike

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Workers of Indian Youth Congress staged a protest outside Petroleum Ministry at Delhi's Shastri Bhawan against surging cooking gas prices on February 14. To highlight government's attention, protestors made rotis from dried dung cakes instead of using gas. They also showed placards to draw centre's attention on rising inflation. Non-subsidised LGP gas price on February 12 was hiked by Rs. 144.5 per cylinder due to spurt in benchmark global rates of the fuel.

Coronavirus: Indian evacuees to be sent home if final samples found negative, says ITBP spokesperson

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): While talking on suspected coronavirus inmates at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) facility at Chhawla camp in New Delhi, spokesperson Vivek Pandey informed that if the final samples will be found negative, then they will be sent home by next week. "ITBP facility in Chhawla camp is functional right now. Total 406 inmates are there, final sampling is being done. 249 samples were taken yesterday (February 13), 157 samples are being taken today (February 14). Reports will be received in 2-3 days. If the final reports of the tests are found negative, then they will be sent home by next week." The Indian nationals, who were brought to India from China's Wuhan in the middle of novel coronavirus outbreak in the country, have been quarantined at the ITBP facility at Chhawla camp in Delhi for past 12 days.

As per Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announcement, people can now book Aqua line coaches for birthday parties, pre-wedding and other similar celebrations. Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ritu Maheshwari said, "Noida Metro Rail Corporation has introduced new facility for commuters in which a coach or complete metro can be booked at Rs 5,000-10,000/hr package to have official or personal events. The decision has been taken to increase metro's viability and to give better facilities." However, people have mixed views over this new move.

Have full faith in judiciary: Omar Abdullah's sister on plea challenging detention

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Supreme Court heard plea of Sara Abdullah Pilot challenging detention of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah under Public Safety Act, 1978. After the hearing of plea, Sara Abdullah said, "We were hopeful that, as this is a habeas corpus case, the relief would be sooner. But we have full faith in the justice system. We're here because we want that all Kashmiris should have the same rights as all citizen of India and we're waiting for that day." Supreme Court issued notice to JandK administration on the plea of Sara Abdullah Pilot. The Court asked JandK administration to file a reply by March 2. Omar Abdullah is detained under PSA after abrogation of Article 370 in August last year.

Portuguese President meets PM Modi in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on February 14 met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital. Both the leaders also witnessed exchange of agreements between the two countries. PM Modi and the Portuguese President also held extensive talks to deepen the bilateral relations between the two countries. Portuguese President is on a four-day state visit to India.
