Goalpara (Assam), Feb 04 (ANI): A bus fell into a gorge in Assam's Goalpara on February 04. The bus accident happened near Dhupdhara area. The incident led to death of seven people while many are feared injured. Injured people were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Further details are awaited

Media reports are false, did not speak a word against Mahatma Gandhi: Anant Hegde

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Speaking to ANI, BJP leader and Member of Parliament from Uttara Kannada constituency Anant Kumar Hegde dismissed media reports which are attributing him to term Mahatma Gandhi's freedom struggle as "drama", saying that he did not make any reference to the father of nation in his speech."I own my statement made on 1 Feb, 2020. I never made any reference to any political party or Mahatma Gandhi or anybody else, I was just trying to categorize freedom struggle. The speech is in public domain if anyone wants to see, it is available online and on my website. I never said a word against Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru. I was just discussing about our freedom struggle," said BJP leader Anant Hegde.

Preparation for 'Defence Expo 2020' underway in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 04 (ANI): The preparation is underway for 'Defence Expo 2020' in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. The 11th biennial edition of 'Defence Expo' is scheduled to be held for the first time in Uttar Pradesh. Indian Coastal Guard personnel were seen rehearsing for the exhibition. Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Feb 04 (ANI): Kerala Minister Kadakampally Surendran during Assembly said that the tourism industry has been affected after coronavirus outbreak. He said, "Hotels bookings were full for February-March. But after Coronavirus reports, bookings have been cancelled. Kerala Tourism suffered during outbreak of Nipa virus and also during floods. This is another blow for the tourism industry." Three cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Kerala. Novel coronavirus was declared as state disaster on February 03.

Uttarakhand Police suspends police personnel accused in 1997 murder case

Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Feb 04 (ANI): A police personnel has accused in a murder case pertaining to 1997, kept his criminal record hidden and has been working for Uttarakhand Police for years. Speaking on the matter, DG Law and Order, Ashok Kumar said, "During the exams, he put up the false document that there is no case on him as such. It's been 23 years to this case now. He has been suspended. He is a resident of Bareilly (UP). The probe began after we received a letter. His punishment is pending till now."

Equity parameters gain on Asian cues, Reliance up by 2.3 pc

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices gained considerably during early hours on Tuesday as Asian stocks reversed some of their previous plunges amid efforts by Chinese officials to calm virus fears. At 10:15 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was up by 498 points or 1.25 per cent to 40,370 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 140 points at 11,848. Except for Nifty realty, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with financial service up by 1.24 per cent. Among stocks, index heavyweight Reliance Industries gained by 2.34 per cent at Rs 1,417.90 per share while Hero MotoCorp was up by 2.4 per cent at Rs 2,435 per share. Bharti Infratel, Hindalco, UltraTech Cement and HDFC Bank too edged higher by over 2 per cent each.

Coronavirus: After returning from China, man kept in isolation ward for observation in UP's Lalitpur

Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 04 (ANI): A man is suspected with coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur. He has recently returned from China and is admitted to district hospital. "The man has come from Jabalpur and has recently returned from China. We have kept him in isolation to keep an observation on him. Google tests a new subscription service to print your best photos regularly

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Google is reportedly testing a new print subscription service for printing your best photos on a periodic basis. According to 9to5 Google, the monthly photo prints subscription program will send you 10 prints that will be auto-selected from your last 30 days of photos, allowing you to make a change if required. The selected photos will then be printed and delivered straight to your home. The users will be able to pick one of three themes for the monthly prints. The cost of the subscription is USD 7.99 per month for 4x6 pictures on matte white cardstock. The service is currently in beta and available in the US.

New deep learning model identifies sleep stages

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Researchers at the University of Eastern Finland have developed a new deep learning model that can identify sleep stages as accurately as an experienced physician. Sleep is manually classified into five stages, which are wake, rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and three stages of non-REM sleep. The study published in the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics opened up new avenues for the diagnostics and treatment of sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). It is estimated that up to one billion people worldwide suffer from obstructive sleep apnoea, and the number is expected to grow due to population ageing and increased prevalence of obesity. When untreated, OSA increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, among other severe health consequences.
