Guru Gobind Singh was the 10th guru of Sikhs, who was born in Patna. The day is celebrated with joy and fervour across the country.
Jammu, Jan 02 (ANI): Wreath laying ceremony of two soldiers was performed in Jammu on January 02. Arjun Thapa Magar and Sawant Sandip Raghunath lost their lives during a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector on January 01. Soldiers were given full military honours.
New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire in Delhi on Jan 01 after his motorcycle was impounded and he was fined by traffic police. A case is registered against the man and he was also arrested by the police. Further investigation is underway.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 02 (ANI): Calling state assembly's resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 'illegal and unconstitutional', Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that it has no validity. Governor Khan said, "They are only making a demand. This resolution has no legal or constitutional validity because citizenship is exclusively a central subject, this actually means nothing. I have already made my views public that we should not spend government's time and resources on issues which are beyond the jurisdiction of the government. But I respect if some people are in view and they are making a demand to the central government, then I have no problem. This resolution has no constitutional or legal validity."
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 02 (ANI): Environment activist Ekta Shekhar met her toddler Champak after 14 days. Ekta, along with husband Ravi Shekhar, was arrested during protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Varanasi on December 19. The couple has been granted bail. Ekta said, "My baby daughter Champak is dependent on my milk, I was worried about her. It was very tough for me."
Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Jan 02 (ANI): Fire broke out in a camping coach near Kalaburagi Railway Station. The coach was standing near pit line at the time of incident. Two fire tenders were present to extinguish the fire. Further details are awaited.

Fog in the northern region of the country has affected the rail route. According to IMD, the minimum temperature recorded in Delhi was 5.8 degree Celsius.
Alwar (Rajasthan), Jan 02 (ANI): Many vehicles were collided in Rajasthan's Alwar due to dense fog on Jan 02. The incident happened at National Highway 8 near Dooghera area. Many were injured in the incident and were immediately sent to the nearby hospital. The administration reached to the spot. Further investigation is underway.
Chirang (Assam), Jan 02 (ANI): Annual river festival 'Dwijing' is underway in Chirang district. The festival was held on the bank of river Aie. A lot of regional clothing and crockery was available for sale. Locals thronged the stalls for kids' items, plants and food items. Locals also enjoyed boat rides and art installations. The twelve-day long festival began on December 27.
New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at a factory in Delhi's Peeragarhi on Jan 02. During rescue operations a blast occurred, after which factory building collapsed. Several people, including fire brigade personnel are still trapped in the building. The rescue operations are underway and injured were immediately taken to nearby hospital. Almost 35 fire tenders are present at the spot.
Vrindavan (Mathura), Jan 02 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh BJP president Swatantra Dev targeted Samajwadi Party's (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav over latter's protest against NPR, NRC and CAA. "Akhilesh ji should go to Pakistan and offer prayers at a temple for one month, he will understand what happens there. He does not know what he wants, he should read about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR). He is forcibly agitating," said Swatantra Dev in Vrindavan.

Pithoragarh, Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Jan 02 (ANI): Parts of Uttarakhand received heavy snowfall on Jan 02. Munsyari area was covered with thick layer snow. Chamoli also received fresh snowfall. The roads were blocked due to heavy snowfall and normal lives also got affected. North Indian states have been hit by cold spell.

New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): Using a mouse model, researchers have found how the brain divides the labour to steer between seeking pleasure and avoiding pain - two opposing behaviours which guide our choices. As brains take in information about the world and use it to steer the actions, the two mentioned above are the key principles that guide the choices. The research published in the journal 'Neuron' at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has zeroed in on an information-processing hub in the brains of mice to discover how neurons there divide the labour to handle these opposing behavioural motivations. The study revealed that different classes of neurons control positive and negative motivation, sending opposing signals along a shared motivation-processing brain circuit. Li wanted to get an understanding of the brain's motivation-processing circuits because the behaviours they control are often disrupted in people with mental illness.
Mumbai, Jan 02 (ANI): Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Wednesday said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra is like three-wheeler vehicle and will not last long. While speaking to ANI, he said, "The three parties (Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress) have come together but I don't think the three-wheeler can run long. I think there was requirement of a four-wheeler."

The company has announced that its first all-electric vehicle could debut as soon as 2025. One of the major differentiators for Bentley will be an all-new model in the electric segment, instead of transforming an existing model to an electric version, Engadget notes. The engineers are planning to build an electric Bentley with a smaller footprint than a Mulsanne while offering sufficient interior space.
Perambalur (Tamil Nadu), Jan 02 (ANI): Tamil writer, Nellai Kannan has been arrested in Tamil Nadu's Perambalur on January 01 for giving a "hate speech" against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The arrest comes after the BJP's senior leaders staged a sit-in protest, demanding Nellai Kannan's arrest.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Jan 02 (ANI): In view of the chilly weather, the authorities at Kankaria Zoo in Ahmedabad have made special arrangements for the animals. Heating facilities have been installed in the enclosure for tigers and lions. Paddy straws also have been put in place to keep animals warm. While speaking to ANI, RK Sahu, Director, Kankaria Zoo, said, "We have made special arrangement to protect the animals from chilly winter. We have installed heaters near the cages of the animals.
