Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Feb 09 (ANI): Rescue operation continued at Tapovan tunnel in Uttarakhand's Chamoli on February 09. SDRF personnel along with members of other rescue teams have engaged into an operation and are taking care of the entire rescue operation. Speaking on the operation, Dehradun's ITBP DIG, Aparna Kumar said, "The operation was carried out the entire night and is still under progress. A lot of debris has been removed. Lucknow (UP), Feb 09 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high level meeting over the Chamoli glacier burst at his residence in Lucknow on February 08. After the meeting Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi informed about the toll free number issued by the government for people seeking for any information of their close ones. "CM conducted a high level meeting over glacier burst in Chamoli in Uttarakhand. A toll free no. 1070 and Whatsapp no. 9454441036 has been established for people of Uttar Pradesh. CM has also ordered to set up state control room at Haridwar," said AK Awasthi while speaking to media.

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): Giving updates on Chamoli disaster, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director General SN Pradhan on February 08 informed that the rescue operation underway in 2.5 km long tunnel, 27 people alive,11 dead,153 missing. Out of 153, 40-50 are stuck in tunnel, he added. He said, "Rescue operation underway in 2.5 km long tunnel. Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Feb 08 (ANI): Rescue operations are underway in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district after a glacier broke off on February 07 causing disruption in the district. After the tireless efforts of Army personnel and Engineering Task Force, mouth of the tunnel was cleared. More than 300 ITBP personnel deployed at the tunnel site. Excavators are being used to clear the slush and debris inside the tunnel to open it. Over 30 people trapped in the tunnel since yesterday. 15 bodies recovered and 16 people rescued so far. ITBP, Indian Army, SDRF and NDRF forces are engaged in the retrieval. Speaking on the operation, Dehradun's ITBP DIG, Aparna Kumar said, "The bigger tunnel has been cleared till 70-80 m. Debris blocked it, it is being cleared with the help of JCB. It is around 180 m long and around 30-40 workers are trapped since yesterday. Efforts are underway to rescue them," said DIG Kumar.
Joshimath (Uttarakhand), Feb 08 (ANI): Union Minister for Education, and former chief minister of Uttarakhand, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank visited Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli where a flash flood triggered due to glacier burst on February 07. While speaking to ANI, Nishank said, "It's a very difficult situation, but ITBP successfully rescued people from 1st tunnel and now they're working on 2nd tunnel, which is approx 3 km long. NDRF and military are also on it. By afternoon, we can expect some positive result."

At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 649 points or 1.28 per cent at 51,381 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 179 points or 1.2 per cent to 15,103. Most sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty auto up by 2.6 per cent private bank by 1.8 per cent and realty by 1.6 per cent. Among stocks, Mahindra and Mahindra moved up by 7.6 per cent to Rs 931.65 per share while Tata Motors accelerated by 2.4 per cent to Rs 323.55.
Joshimath (Uttarakhand), Feb 08 (ANI): Rescue operations continued on the second day at Joshimath in Chamoli following glacier burst on February 08. 12 people were rescued from one tunnel on Feb 07 and the second tunnel is being cleared with the help of JCB machines. While speaking to ANI, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said, "No need to spread panic. The glacier burst yesterday, boulders and debris followed which washed away the Raini power project causing a massive impact on Tapovan. All of this happened yesterday. 32 people from first and 121 people are missing from the 2nd project." "Out of these, 10 bodies have been recovered so far - 3 from Tapovan and 7 in the route to Karnaprayag. 12 people rescued from the smaller tunnel in Tapovan yesterday. Efforts are underway to open the bigger tunnel. Debris is being removed from it," he added.
