Karachi (Pakistan), Nov 15 (ANI): 'Festival of lights' Diwali was observed on November 14. On the festival, streets of Paksitan's Karachi got illuminated. Pakistani Hindus celebrated the festival with great pomp and show. They visited temple for puja on Diwali. They lit 'diyas', made rangoli on the occasion. (Rajasthan), Nov 15 (ANI): The whole nation celebrated the 'festival of lights' Diwali on Nov 14. The streets of India illuminated on the festival. Monuments in Delhi lit up. Locals in Jaipur lit 'diyas' on the occasion and the sight looked beautiful. Meanwhile, locals celebrated Diwali in Hyderabad too. They burst crackers to celebrate the festival. People also burst crackers in Ghaziabad to celebrate 'festival of lights'. Diwali is celebrated to mark victory of good over evil as per Hindu mythology.

NDMC conducts water sprinkling post Diwali celebrations in Sadar Bazaar

New Delhi, Nov 15 (ANI): North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) conducted water sprinkling in Sadar Bazaar area as a measure against air pollution. The drill was conducted post Diwali celebrations. "It is the responsibility of Delhi government to control pollution but it is sleeping. We, on the other hand, are working," said Mayor of NDMC Jai Prakash.

Chandigarh dog lovers welcome ban on firecrackers

Chandigarh, Nov 14 (ANI): The Chandigarh administration banned the sale and use of firecrackers of all types. Pet owners in Chandigarh welcomed the decision of the Union Territory Administration. Loud noise of crackers leaves animals perturbed during Diwali. A pet owner said, "It's a good decision. Dogs are really affected by the sound of firecrackers and it's really painful for them." Locals in Shivamogga boycott fire crackers to curb air pollution

Construction of toilets in UP significantly reduced children deaths from encephalitis: CM Yogi

Gorakhpur (UP) 14 Nov (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 14 said that construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission drastically reduced children deaths in the state. He said, "From 1977-2017, at least 50,000 children died due to encephalitis in East UP. Every year, 500-1500 cases of deaths were reported. Now when toilets are built, 21 deaths took place this year and we'll make sure that these too don't happen."
