73percent people who died of COVID-19 had co-morbidities: Health Ministry

New Delhi, June 02 (ANI): The Health Ministry said on June 02 that 73percent of COVID19 deaths reported in the country are people with co-morbidities. "73percent of COVID19 deaths in India are people with co-morbidities," said Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agrawal while addressing a press conference in New Delhi.

Jessica Lal Murder: Convict Manu Sharma released from jail on grounds of 'good behaviour'

New Delhi, Jun 02 (ANI): Manu Sharma, convict in the Jessica Lal murder case, who has spent 17 years in prison was released from jail on June 01 on grounds of "good behaviour" after Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal allowed the same on recommendation of Sentence Review Board. Sharma was released on evening of June 02 after Baijal approved his release in the morning. He was sentenced for life imprisonment in December 2006, and the decision was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2010. Jessica Lal, a model in the national capital working as celebrity barmaid was shot dead by Manu Sharma at around 2 am on 30 April, 1999 at a party.

India's COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 48.07 percent : Health Ministry

New Delhi, June 02 (ANI): The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has been continuously improving, according to the Health Ministry 95,527 COVID19 patients have been recovered as of June 02. "95,527 COVID19 patients have recovered, till now. The recovery rate is now 48.07 percent ," said the Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agrawal while addressing a press conference in New Delhi. "The fatality rate in our country is 2.82 percent , one of the lowest in the world," informed Health Ministry.

COVID-19: Vehicles line up at Delhi-Gurugram border after Haryana seals border again

New Delhi, May 29 (ANI): In wake of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Delhi's bordering districts of Haryana, the state government on May 28 decided to seal its border with the national capital. The long queue of vehicles was seen at the Delhi-Gurugram borders on May 29. Commuters are facing problems after security was tightened at the state's border. Only essential services are allowed. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Haryana stands at 1504, while the number in Delhi has crossed 16000-mark.

Vehicles move in snail's speed at Delhi-Ghaziabad border

COVID: Kerala resumes liquor sale, purchase only allowed with e-tokens

Kozhikode (Kerala), May 28 (ANI): People queued up outside a shop in Kozhikode, as Kerala State Beverages Corporation resumed the commercial sale of liquor today, amid lockdown. Security has been deployed to maintain law and order. State govt has released a mobile app BevQ to avoid crowding. Only customers with the app's e-token are allowed to purchase liquor.

Major IED blast averted by security forces in J-K's Pulwama

Pulwama (J-K), May 28 (ANI): A major incident of a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast was averted by the timely input and action by Pulwama Police, CRPF and Army, informed Kashmir Zone Police. Last night, Pulwama Police got credible information that a terrorist was moving with an explosive-laden car. They took out various parties of police and security forces (SFs) and covered all possible routes keeping themselves and security forces away from road at safer location. The suspected vehicle came and a few rounds of bullets were fired towards it. Going a little further the vehicle was abandoned and the driver escaped in the darkness. On closer look, the vehicle was seen to be carrying heavy explosives in a drum on the rear seat. To avert horrific incident, In-situ explosion of the vehicle, which was carrying IED was done.

Domestic flight operations resume in West Bengal

Kolkata, May 28 (ANI): Domestic flight operations resumed in West Bengal on May 28. New guidelines have been issued by CM Mamata Banerjee-led government for passengers. Passengers arrived at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, while maintaining social distancing, as they are screened before entering the terminal. Services of domestic flights had resumed across India on May 25, except Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal.

Jabalpur farmers to use sound of tin cases, tractors to keep locusts at bay

The farmers have been asked to be prepared for the locusts attack by using tin cases, tractors' sound without silencer and other traditional methods to make locusts go away.One of the farmers said, "We have seen on Facebook, the vice chancellor of Agricultural college has said that we should make sound with the help of plates, Tin cases and tractors to demolish the desert locust swarms attack" Locust is a crop eater insect that can destroy the whole farm.

Punjab's COVID-19 recovery rate at 64% is best in country: State's Health Minister

Chandigarh, May 19 (ANI): Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on current COVID-19 situation in the state said the cured rate of 64%, as of May19, is the best throughout the country. "However, the fight is still on as many Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and people who are stranded in other states are returning," he added. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Punjab stands at 1964, which includes 35 deaths and 1366 recovery so far.

Cyclone Amphan: Odisha fishermen pack bags after IMD warns against fishing activities

Soldier injured in Srinagar encounter, operation underway

Tea shops open in Delhi, Gujarat as lockdown 4.0 brings more relaxations

New Delhi/Rajkot (Gujarat), May 19 (ANI): With some new relaxations in the fourth phase of nationwide lockdown, tea shops in Delhi started to function from May 19. The shop owners have to follow some safety norms like social distancing and hygiene. "Morning tea is important. Tea stalls opened after 2 months. People are coming for it," a customer said. Meanwhile, paan and tea shops also resumed their services in Gujarat's Rajkot from today onwards. The shop owners have to ensure that customers maintain a minimum 6 feet distance from each other and that not more than 5 people are present at one time at the shop.
