Agartala (Tripura), May 12 (ANI): Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Tripura unit organized a blood donation camp at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Tripura. The aim was to overcome the crisis of blood in blood banks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Large number of youths including women participated in the blood donation. Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tripura stands at 150.

Vandhe Bharat Mission: 180 Indian nationals arrive in Chennai from Malaysia

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 12 (ANI): The total number of 180 Indian nationals arrived in Chennai from Malaysia. The repatriation took place under the 'Vandhe Bharat Mission' in the view of coronavirus pandemic. The Indian nationals were tested for coronavirus infection at the airport. They we will quarantine for 14 days as per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines to prevent spread the virus. The 'Vandhe Bharat Mission' was started on May 07 to repatriate stranded Indians from aboard amid the global lockdown.

CM Hemant Soren requests Centre for tax reform to fight COVID-19 pandemic

Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 12 (ANI): The chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren urged the Centre for tax reform to fight COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "Our state is totally depended on Central Government for resources during the coronavirus pandemic. Centre may do some amendment in current tax policy, so that states can gather their own revenue." The Chief Minister also raised concern over the safety and security of migrant workers who are returning back to their home state amid the uncertainty. CM Soren made these statements after attending the fifth virtual meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chief Ministers over the pandemic.

Mango cultivation hit by storm in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 12 (ANI): Malihabad's farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow are now facing another hurdle due to sudden change in weather on Sunday. The mango cultivation got affected by the strong wind. Around 40% crops have been damaged in a single day. The farmers said that they are going to face huge loss. On one hand farmers are not able to sell their crop due to the coronavirus lockdown and on the other hand now, the storm has damaged the crops. Majority of the farmers here are depended on the mango crop for their livelihood.

36 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospital in UP's Kanpur

Kanpur (UP), May 12 (ANI): At least 36 COVID-19 patients were discharged from Kashiram Hospital in UP's Kanpur. Hospital staff clapped for the patients while they were leaving the hospital. They were also told about the precautions to be taken and were asked to follow social distancing norms.

Rural Health Pharmacies employees protest over salary hike in Punjab

Govt rubbishes privacy concerns in Aarogya Setu, says app was designed with 'privacy-first' measure

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Chairman of Empowered Group 9 Ajay Sahni informed that the government has "worked a lot" on data privacy of Arogya Setu app users and "made sure" that user data is not compromised. "Aarogya Setu app has been downloaded in 9.8 crore smartphones so far. It will be available on Jio feature smartphones from tomorrow. Govt revises policy for discharging COVID-19 patients, some can go home early now

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): The Health Ministry on May 11 informed that mild/very mild/pre-symptomatic cases admitted to COVID care facility can be discharged after 10 days of symptom onset and if there is no fever for 3 days. "Discharge policy has been changed because several countries have changed their policy from test-based strategy to symptom and time-based strategy. We have also changed it based on this. As per revised policy, mild/very mild/pre-symptomatic cases admitted to COVID care facility can be discharged after 10 days of symptom onset and if there is no fever for 3 days. No need to test before discharge, home isolation advised after discharge," said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry.

4,000 Indians brought back by flights, 5 lakh migrants went hometowns via trains: Govt

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, Punya Salila Srivastava, on May 11 informed about the latest development on Centre's Vande Bharat Mission under which government is bringing stranded citizens home from abroad. Briefing about the numbers, she said that around 4,000 Indians have been brought back by 23 flights under the mission. "Over 5 lakh migrant workers have been sent to their home states by 468 special trains. 101 special trains were run yesterday," said Srivastava.

Lucknow (UP), May 11 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Principal Health Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad on May 11 informed that many of the migrant workers, who are coming in Uttar Pradesh from other state are testing positive for COVID-19. "We've Village Monitoring Committees in rural areas and Mohalla Monitoring Committees in urban areas. It's necessary that we implement our community surveillance model effectively," said Prasad.

4,213 COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, recovery rate improved to 31.15%: Govt

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Reviewing coronavirus situation in the country, the Health Ministry on May 11 informed that the recovery percentage of COVID-19 cases stands at 31.15% as of now. And there were 4213 new cases in last 24 hours. "So far 20,917 people have been recovered, and 44,029 cases are under active medical supervision. In last 24 hours, there were 4,213 COVID-19 positive cases and 1559 recovered. Total recovery rate stands at 31.15% as of now. Total confirmed cases stands at 67,152," said Lav Aggarwal.

PM Modi chairs 5th video-conference meeting with CMs on COVID-19 situation

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the fifth meeting via video-conferencing with chief ministers of all states and union territories on May 11 amid the coronavirus lockdown. Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan were present at the meeting. The meeting conducted days ahead of scheduled ending of the nationwide lockdown. The ongoing lockdown is scheduled to end on May 17.

Lockdown 3.0: Standalone outlets reopen in Chennai

Chennai, May 11 (ANI): Tamil Nadu government on May 10 released a list of standalone shops that have been permitted to open even as coronavirus lockdown continues. Tea shops, groceries, hardware shops, roadside carts are among those that have been permitted to open. At the same time, government has said no barber shops or salons will be allowed to work. Disinfection of shops, social distancing and wearing of masks will be mandatory for customers and shop staff. MHA had issued an order to extend nationwide lockdown by two more weeks from May 4 with certain relaxations.

Taxi drivers in Kochi install fiberglass partition to mitigate COVID-19 risk

CM Thackeray files nomination for MLC elections

Mumbai, May 11 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray filed his nomination for the elections to State Legislative Council which is scheduled to be held on May 21. CM Uddhav Thackeray will become Member of Legislative Council unopposed. Elections to the nine Council seats, which fell vacant on April 24, were withheld due to COVID-19 outbreak. However, the poll panel granted permission for conducting elections and said that necessary guidelines to be ensured for safety against the contagion during the elections.

African Swine Flu claims lives of around 13, 000 pigs in Assam

Guwahati (Assam), May 11 (ANI): African Swine Flu has claimed the lives of around 13,000 pigs in Assam. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister of Assam Atul Bora visited the Kaziranga National Park to review the situation. The authorities of Kaziranga National Park have dug a canal in Agoratoli range to deter wild boars from going to nearby villages, in order to save them from the disease. Lockdown 3.0: NRIs fly back to UK from Amritsar airport
