IRTS Officers' voluntary initiative 'SETU' helping people transport essentials during lockdown

Moradabad (UP), Apr 27 (ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19, IRTS Officers' 'SETU' facility has emerged as a big relief for the people. The SETU helpline allows customers to call and place requests for bulk transport of essentials such as PPE kits, medicines and foods. A person can also directly contact to nearest division to use the facility. SETU has dedicated number 8888261234 which is in service for 24x7. SETU is a voluntary initiative of IRTS Officers, with about 30 probationers and a handful of young officers.

Specially-abled lady setting example for society in fight against COVID-19

Kozhikode (Kerala), Apr 27 (ANI): Leela, a 48-year-old lady, who hails from Kerala's Kozhikode is contributing her efforts to fight with the pandemic. She is making face masks for the people in need. What is special about a lady making masks when most of the people are doing it? Leela is a specially-abled woman and she is making masks which can be an example to the society. She has already made and distributed about 900 face masks in her area, Koothali Panchayath. Leela's legs are short and week by birth because of which she struggles in walking, but despite of the fact, she is a fun loving and a big time animal lover lady. She spends certain amount of pension in social service too.

COVID-19: Leh authority bans spitting at public places

Leh (Ladakh), Apr 27 (ANI): To curb the spread of COVID-19, local authority banned spitting at public places and made compulsory to wear the mask in Leh. Rs 500 will charge who violate the norms. "Local authority has banned spitting at public places. It will help to curb the spread. People will follow this decision here," a local said. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Ladakh stands at 20, which includes 14 cured patients.

COVID-19: Huge crowd gather outside mosque for shopping in Gujarat's Surat

Surat (Gujarat), Apr 27 (ANI): Amid coronavirus lockdown imposed across the nation, huge crowd was gathered outside a mosque for shopping in Gujarat's Surat on April 26. In a viral video, people were seen breaking the government norms by not following the social distancing. "There is a Madina Masjid in Limbayat where the population is very dense, people gathered there for shopping. 3 offences registered, arrests are being made," a police official said. New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): Amid coronavirus lockdown imposed across the nation, people were seen buying essentials in Delhi's Okhla vegetable market on April 27. Buyers were seen flouting social distancing norms at the market. The nationwide lockdown imposed to combat COVID-19 will last till May 03. COVID-19: Migrant workers earn wages by making bamboo tree guards at relief camp in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur

Surajpur (Chhattisgarh), Apr 26 (ANI): A group of 15 migrant workers are making bamboo tree guards at a relief camp in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh. This job has been provided them by the Forest Department. Forest Department also provided them with bamboos to make tree guards and they are being paid Rs 200 for making a tree guard so a worker earns around Rs 500 per day. A labourer informed that they hail from Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh. He added, "We have been working since April 20 and have earned over Rs 24,000 so far. We are very happy." District Collector Deepak Soni said, "We are providing them food and other essentials, as we consider them as our guests". Migrant labourers in several states can't go to their hometown due to coronavirus lockdown.

Accused arrested for raping blind woman in Bhopal: Shahpura SHO

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Apr 26 (ANI): Police have registered case against a man for robbing and raping a blind woman in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. Speaking on the incident, Shahpura SHO Chandrakant Patel informed that accused have been arrested. "A man has been arrested for theft and raping a blind woman at her home in Bhopal in the intervening night of April 16-17. Porsche driver urges police to take action for making him do sit ups

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Apr 26 (ANI): A man from Indore who was stopped and punished by Security Committee personnel yesterday (April 25) for driving unnecessarily on road amid lockdown, has urged Indore Police to take action against the incident. "I was returning home from company when I was stopped. I showed them my pass but they verbally abused me and asked me to do sit-ups. I tried to talk to them but they didn't listen. COVID-19 hotspots count mounts to 402 in UP, informs Home Secy
