Isolation center set up in Srinagar to counter coronavirus spread

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Mar 06 (ANI): Amid growing cases of coronavirus, Jammu and Kashmir administration is all prepped up to fight the deadly disease. The Directorate of Health Services of Kashmir has set up isolation facility at Sant Nagar in Srinagar with capacity of 10 new beds as part of preparation for coronavirus prevention. The suspected passengers arriving at the Srinagar airport, will be directly brought for the screening to stop the virus from spreading. This center has proper facility of screening, 24-hours medical staff and latest equipments. The in-charge of Sant Nagar Isolation Center, Dr Navida said, "This is an isolation ward and patients will only be isolated here. We won't test them here. We'll send them to lab for the tests and accordingly, treatment will happen then. We have set up a 10-bed ward which is fully equipped and the staff here is especially trained to deal with coronavirus and these patients. Here the major role plays the precautions, not treatmen

Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik makes sculpture on coronavirus to spread awareness

Worldwide death toll from coronavirus rises to 3,282: WHO

New Delhi, Mar 06 (ANI): The World Health Organization (WHO) said that it had registered 2,241 new confirmed cases of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) worldwide within the past 24 hours, with 84 people having died, which brought the total death toll to 3,282. In China, death toll due to coronavirus has risen to 3,042. The whole number of people, who were diagnosed with COVID-19, has reached 95,333 including 80,565 people in China. COVID-19 was first detected in China's Wuhan in late December and has since spread across the world. In late January, the WHO declared a global health emergency in light of the epidemic.

Parts of Himachal Pradesh receive fresh snowfall

Lahaul-Spiti, Narkanda, Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Mar 06 (ANI): High altitudes of Kullu received fresh snowfall on March 06. Meanwhile, Lahaul-Spiti was seen covered in thick blanket of snow following fresh spell of snow. Himachal Pradesh's Narkanda also received fresh snowfall. Snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh brought down the mercury. Snowfall lead to increase in cold wave and dipping of day and night temperatures.

Sales of Holi items take a dip as coronovirus fear grips customer sentiments

Ludhiana (Punjab), Mar 06 (ANI): The festival of colours, Holi is around the corner but shopkeepers are still waiting for customers at their shops in Ludhiana. The sales rate of Holi business is low due to growing fear of novel coronavirus, this year. One of the shopkeepers said, "Due to coronavirus, the market is a bit slow in Holi, this year. Customers are not coming to buy water guns and colours. Nothing is importing from China, this time because of the fear and even, we don't have any Chinese item. Sales are very low." The other one said, "The season is tardy this time because of the rumours of coronavirus. We have no Chinese items this year. RBI caps withdrawal limit from Yes Bank to Rs 50,000

Mumbai, Mar 06 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has put Yes Bank under moratorium and capped its withdrawal limit to Rs 50,000 for its account holders per month. Board of Directors has been superseded for period of 30 days. Decision was taken by the Central Bank as Yes Bank struggled to raise capital over bad loans.

You can now tell Google Assistant to read aloud web articles

New Delhi, Mar 06 (ANI): Until now, you could tell Google Assistant to show you web results for a search term. Now, you can tell the digital assistant to even read out web articles from a browser. As part of the latest update, if you say, "Hey Google, read it" or "Hey Google, read this page," and it will read aloud the content of the web page. It will also scroll the page automatically and highlight words are they're being read to help you follow along, the official blog explains. You can choose the reading speed and voice. Google Assistant can also trigger the browser to read aloud in 42 languages

Coronavirus: Assam airports on high alert

Dibrugarh (Assam), Mar 06 (ANI): Assam Government is on high alert amid coronavirus outbreak. A total number of coronavirus cases have jumped to 30 with a new case confirmed in Gurugram recently. All the state airports are on high alert and ambulances are on standby. Medical teams have been deployed at all the airports to monitor suspected passengers. Nirbhaya convicts are literates, not terrorists: Lawyer AP Singh on fresh death warrant

New Delhi, Mar 05 (ANI): Nirbhaya's gang-rape case convicts' lawyer AP Singh said that the convicts are literates, not terrorists who should be hanged. "Fourth death warrant was issued in Nirbhaya's gang-rape case today. I want to know due to media pressure while Indian Constitution is in existence, how many times will they be hanged, they are not terrorist they are literate, they are improving in jail," said Singh after a Delhi court issued fresh death warrant in the gang rape case. Convicts will now be hanged on March 20 at 5:30 am.

Normalcy is returning in Delhi: LG Anil Baijal on riots aftermath

New Delhi, Mar 05 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal commented over the current situation of nation capital after the deadly violence in the Northeast region. "Normalcy is returning. The schools are functioning. All the damage is being assessed and compensation will be released accordingly," Baijal told reporters after a meeting with Aman Committee on March 05. Meanwhile, Delhi Police said they are taking appropriate legal action against suspended AAP Councilor Tahir Hussain in connection with the violence. Police Commissioner of Delhi, SN Shrivastava, said, "We are taking appropriate legal action against Tahir Hussain. We will soon present him before the law." At least 47 people lost their lives in the Northeast Delhi violence.
