AAP, TMC protest against Delhi violence inside Parliament premises

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs and All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders staged protest in front of Gandhi statue inside the Parliament premises on March 02. They staged protest over Delhi violence. AAP leaders held placards and raised slogans against violence in Delhi while TMC leaders blindfolded their eyes with black bands to mark the protest. Few days ago, anti and pro-CAA groups clashed in Northeast Delhi, resulting in major loss of lives and properties. Death toll has risen to 46 in Delhi violence so far.

Positive sign for investors: Market expert on Sensex surging 700 points

Mumbai, Mar 02 (ANI): Sensex surged nearly 700 points on March 02 after series of losses last week on the back of growing fears around coronavirus. Speaking on this, market expert Sunil Shah asserted that it's a positive sign for investors. "Today market opens with a gap of positive surprise for the investors; it opens with gap up. Real negotiations will start now: EAM Jaishankar on Afghan peace deal

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Speaking on Afghanistan peace deal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that real negotiations will start now, whether Taliban joins democratic setup or democratic setup adjusts to Taliban. "I would remind people that this isn't the Afghanistan of 2000-2001, many things have happened since then. To US and West our message has been that it's in global interest that the achievements of the last 18 years are secured, protected and not jeopardized. Students appear for CBSE Board exams in riot affected North-East Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): After days of massive violence in the North-East part of the national capital, several students gathered at various school centers for giving their Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board examinations. Earlier, CBSE postponed Class 10 and 12 Board exams in riot affected part of Delhi keeping in mind the security of children. Schools witnessed presence of students on March 02. Heavy security has also been deployed outside examination centers for safety of students. Board exams which were scheduled to be held on February 28, 29 got cancelled by CBSE due to safety purposes.

Stocks recover from last week's fall, ICICI Bank top gainer

Mumbai, Mar 02 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices reversed last week's losses during early hours on Monday as investors got some respite as GDP numbers were slightly ahead of estimates with green shoots on the manufacturing side seeing better traction. The economy expanded by 4.7 per cent in the October to December quarter, a marginal increase from 4.5 per cent in the previous quarter but in line with expectations. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 504 points or 1.32 per cent to 38,802 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 147 points at 11,349. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty realty and metal gaining by 1.9 per cent each, pharma by 1.7 per cent, IT by 1.3 per cent and FMCG by 1.1 per cent. Among stocks, ICICI Bank added gains of 3.8 per cent at Rs 516.15 per share. Metal major Vedanta and JSW Steel were up by 2.6 per cent each while FMCG major Nestle India ticked up by 2.3 per cent. 5 dead after motorcycles collide with truck on Pune-Mumbai Highway

Nirbhaya's mother urges Supreme Court to not further delay execution of convicts

New Delhi, March 02 (ANI): Ahead of Supreme Court hearing on curative petition of one of the convicts, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi has urged the top court to not further delay the execution of the perpetrators, who are scheduled to be hanged on March 03. "There are loop holes in our judiciary. It creates bad impact on society, but why there is delay of implementing Supreme Court's own judgement, I want to say to the Supreme Court, government that the way execution is being postpone the faith on judiciary is being eroded. I am fighting since 7 years 3 months, I want to say what was my daughter's mistake. I want to urge that without any delay execute them," Asha Devi told ANI.

Heavy security force deployed at Shaheen Bagh to maintain law and order

Former army man attacks ADM with bat in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad (UP), Mar 02 (ANI):Dismissed Army personnel identified as Jasbir Singh brutally attacked an Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Madan Singh Garbyal using cricket bat in Ghaziabad on Sunday. Official was attacked while he was walking in a park. Madan Singh received serious injuries and was admitted to ICU and now his life is out of danger. "The reason of the attack is yet to be ascertained. Attacker is being interrogated. He says that he was earlier dismissed from Army, it's being verified. He had also worked at some malls from where he was fired. He was currently unemployed," said Ghaziabad SSP Kalnidhi Naithani.

Health issues in 20s may lead to poor brain function in older age

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Some of the health issues faced by a person in their 20s may lead to problems with thinking, memory skills and the brain's ability to properly regulate its blood flow as they grow older, new research suggests. Health issues such as smoking, high cholesterol or a high body mass index (BMI) in one's youth, may make them more likely to have a weak brain in older age. Studied for 30 years over the course, the team assessed cardiovascular health based on five factors -- smoking, BMI, blood pressure, total cholesterol and fasting blood glucose level. The researchers found that people with better cardiovascular health at the beginning of the study were more likely to have higher scores on the tests of thinking and memory skills 30 years later than those with worse cardiovascular health. Some people detained for spreading rumours of unrest in Delhi: Police

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): After rumours of panic and unrest in Delhi were dismissed by the city police, several people were detained by the authorities for spreading misinformation and hate speech, Delhi Police PRO MS Randhawa informed. "Some people have been detained for rumour-mongering and cases are being registered against them. Strict action will be taken against those who spread rumours and hate speech," Randhawa told ANI. Entry and exit gates of Tilak Nagar and several other metro stations were closed briefly after rumours of unrest floated over social media which were later dismissed by police.
