IIT Madras launches India's first standing wheelchair

Chennai, Nov 06 (ANI): India's one of the top colleges, IIT Madras launched first indigenously designed standing wheelchair 'Arise'. The state-of-the art wheelchair can enable specially-abled people to shift from sitting to standing position using simple lever. It was launched in presence of Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot. Standing wheelchairs will hit the market soon in affordable price.

Monitoring activities in JandK will now be easier, says Army Chief

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat asserted that as Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory, it will be easier to monitor activities in the region. "In the Kashmir valley, everybody is working together, Army does not work in isolation. Army is working along with the other central police forces that are there, the state police forces. Now if you see the BDC and Sarpanch elections have been held. So, we are working with everybody together," General Rawat told media. "Now what will happen is the monitoring of activities I am sure will be carried out in a better manner because they have come directly under the Centre becoming a Union Territory," he added. The Army Chief on November 05 met a group of maulvis, granthis and pundits from Rajouri and Reasi region as part of a national integration tour.

'Pakistan, China releasing poisonous air into India': BJP leader on pollution

Meerut (UP), Nov 06 (ANI): In an unusual comment over current air pollution prevailing in northern states of India, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Meerut Vineet Agarwal Sharda claimed that neighbouring countries, mainly Pakistan and China are behind it. Fire breaks out at godown in Mumbai's Malad

2 Naxals killed in encounter with DRG in Chhattisgarh

Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Nov 06 (ANI): Two Naxals were killed in an encounter with a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Dantewada district's Katekalyan on Nov 05. New Delhi, Nov 05 (ANI): Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi called a meeting of minority community ahead of Ayodhya verdict at his official residence. Minority community, RSS leaders attended the meeting. After the meeting Shia cleric Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad said that nation is above all and there should be peace whatever the judgment will come. "Whatever decision the Supreme Court delivers, we all must respect it. We will appeal to all to propagate that peace must be maintained," added Jawad. PMC bank scam: Depositors stages protest outside RBI, several detained by police

Mumbai, Nov 05 (ANI): Depositors of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank (PMC) staged a protest outside Reserve Bank of India on November 05. They have been demanding their deposited money back and an assurance from the officials that their money is safe. Later, the protestors were etained by the police officials. In September, the RBI restricted the activities of the PMC bank for six months and asked it not to grant and renew any loans and advances, make investments or incur any liability, including borrowing of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits after an alleged fraud of Rs. 4,355 crore come to light.
