Switzerland, Sep 16 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind left for Slovenia on September 15. President Kovind, accompanied by his wife Savita Kovind, had wide range of discussions with his Swiss counterpart Ueli Maurer. Air India One flight carrying President Ramnath Kovind detected 'Rudder Fault' at Zurich (Switzerland) airport on Sep 15. President Kovind is on a visit to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia.
Jammu, Sep 16 (ANI): Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur, on September 16 said that what Jammu and Kashmir has lost in last 70 years will be achieved in next few years. Thakur asserted that after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and Article 35A, he is seeing interest of business communities to invest in the state.
Onboard, Sep 16 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted aerial survey in state's East Godavari district on September 16. He conducted this survey after a boat capsized in the area on September 15. In this major tragedy, 11 people died when a tourist boat carrying 61 persons onboard capsized in the Godavari River near Devipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Reddy has announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for kin of deceased. Navy UH 3H helicopter took off from Rajmundary airport at 07:30 hours on September 16, carried out multiple searches from accident site at Devipatnam to Pollavaram. No survivors or bodies or debris of boat were sighted. Chetak helicopter is now conducting search in this regard.
Slovenia, Sep 16 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Slovenia on September 16. He will hold bilateral talks with his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor in the capital Ljubljana today. This is the first ever visit by any Indian President to Slovenia after it gained Independence in 1991. President Kovind is on a three-nation visit to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan met Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in the national capital on September 16. Tamilisai Soundararajan took oath as Telangana Governor on September 08. She has earlier served as chief of Bharatiya Janata Party unit of Tamil Nadu. Venkaiah Naidu's wife Usha Naidu was also present on this occasion.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Reacting to Minister of State (MoS) for Labour, Santosh Gangwar's statement that there were ample jobs in country for which enough skilled workers were absent, Congress party's national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh said this was not an unexpected remark, and was in line with such responses by many others including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal. Vallabh added that the demonetisation and GST bullets shot the economy in its chest, and pressed on his party's demand from the government to bring a white paper on the state of economy.
Surat (Gujarat), Sep 16 (ANI): Nikisha Jariwala, a professor in Surat has made first of a kind model for the visually impaired, which will convert Hindi, English and Gujarati text into Braille language. Not only texts, model will also convert drawings, mathematical equations and text to speech as well. This invention has helped her bag Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lifetime Achievement National Award. While speaking on this development Nikisha Jariwala, said, "My PHD topic was Design and Development of the model to transliterate digitalised multi lingual text into Braille and speech - An aid for visually impaired people with the help of this model, the visually impaired will be able to easily communicate with everyone and pursue normal education. Not only texts, the model will also convert drawings and mathematical equations, and text to speech as well."
Patna (Bihar), Sep 16 (ANI): As many as eight people got stuck in the lift for two hours at a hotel in Bihar's capital Patna. The incident took place during a party at the hotel. The occupants of the lift were rescued after breaking the glass. Women, elderly and children were among the rescued. Police assured of appropriate action into the case.
Guwahati (Assam), Sep 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Ram Madhav reacted on Jammu and Kashmir's current situation. Showing optimism, he said that countrymen will see normalcy soon returning to Jammu and Kashmir. He further asserted that development will reach to the people of the valley and other issues will be taken up at appropriate time. "Article 370 is history now in Jammu and Kashmir, very soon we will see normalcy returning to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Things will normalize. Fruits of development will reach people. All other issues will be taken up at appropriate time," said Madhav. Jammu and Kashmir is under the surveillance of heavy security force after Modi government abrogated Article 370, which provided special status to the state. The resolution was presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Parliament.
Rajkot (Gujarat), Sep 16 (ANI): Hours of heavy rainfall hit Gujarat's Rajkot. The heavy rain led to water-logging in several parts of the city. Police administration tried to clear the water to clear the traffic.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury mocked the Bharatiya Janata Party after Union Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said there is no dearth of opportunities in the country and north Indian candidates lack qualification. "This is government's failure, it only indicates that governments schemes are not talking place at ground level and there is no 'Sabka - Vikas, Sabka- Sath, Sabka- Vishwas," said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Sep 16 (ANI): Jharkhand is going to give some relief to the commuters of the state as the state government has decided to give three months relief to the people so that they can get their respective documents in order. Transport Minister CP Singh informed about the decision, "Taking cognisance of people's safety, some amendments were made in Motor Vehicle Act by Centre. However, taking note of issues people are facing, we've decided to give 3 month relief to people so that they can get their documents in order, spread awareness among people. Public should also make sure that they abide by all the traffic rules and regulations," said Singh. The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 went into effect earlier this month.
Sindh (Pakistan), Sep 16 (ANI): Furious mob vandalised a school in Sindh's Ghotki of Pakistan after its Hindu principal was booked on charges of alleged blasphemy. An FIR was filed against the principal, who belongs to a Hindu minority community in the country. Furious mob also staged a protest against the principal.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): After helming several anti-corruption movements including the influential 'India Against Corruption' campaign in 2011-12, social activist Anna Hazare is now batting for "party-less democracy" in India. Hazare reasoned that groups or organisation cannot contest elections and only individuals can stand in elections, and when there was people's rule implemented in the country on 26 January 1950, the political parties should have been dissolved then and there, and even Mahatma Gandhi had urged the Congress to do the same. Hazare made the comments during 'India For Party-less Democracy' event in the national capital, where he put forward his views on democracy.
Lucknow (UP), Sep 16 (ANI): A six-year-old girl's throat was slit in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. Police found the minor girl in a pool of blood at her father's colleagues' house in Baba Hazara Ka Bagh area. The girl has been admitted to hospital and her condition is critical. Police have lodged a complaint and investigating the matter. The victim is a resident of Saadatganj.
McChord Air Force Base (US), Sep 16 (ANI): Exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' being carried out between India and United States soldiers at Joint Base Lewis, McChord. Both Indian and American troops sweat out and performed various physical drills together during the exercise. The training organised as part of Indo-US defence cooperation, it is being conducted from September 5 to 18. Yudh Abhyas is one of the largest joint running military training and defence corporation endeavours between both the countries.
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 16 (ANI): One day off-road hill cycling race was organised in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla. Over 30 enthusiastic participants joined the bicycle race which started from Mashobra. The event was organised by Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association (HASTPA). The aim of this event to select the cyclists for the upcoming 15th annual MTB Himalaya which is begins by the end of this month. Another aim of this event was to encourage youth for cycling and to preserve environment. HASTPA has been organizing MTB Himalaya for nearly 15 years.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Doctors from leading medical institutes have opined that learning different languages is helpful for the brain's cognitive development. Health experts said that if a person knows more than two languages, different parts of the brain get activated which helps in better concentration and development of brainpower. In fact, doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have urged the government to take strict efforts in banning internet gaming, PUBG and other social media apps which are actually a threat for children. Earlier in May, the draft of the new National Education Policy, proposed by the panel constituted in the previous Modi government, had suggested teaching of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking States. However, this was opposed by many non-Hindi teaching states, especially Tamil Nadu.

It also provided platform to youths. Painting competition for children, bicycle rally, tree plantation, are also the major attractions of this festival apart from music performances and art by various performers. Amongst 10 bands, Indus Creed from Mumbai, Ambush from Assam, Ditty from Goa and Hanuba from Sylhet, Bangladesh among other local artists and musicians performed during the festival.
New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Defence expert Ranjit Bhavnani Rai on September 16 reacted on over 2050 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in 2019 in which 21 civilians were killed. Rai supported the India's assertion calling Pakistani administration to adhere to the 2003 ceasefire agreement and said that Pakistan was the one who broke the 2003 ceasefire understanding.
