Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Aug 26 (ANI): A person found a poisonous snake inside a courier parcel while unpacking it in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. Locals got panicked after seeing snake in the parcel. The person, who received the parcel, informed the Forest Department for rescue of the serpent.

New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI): Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi along with the delegation will visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The delegation will be in Srinagar on August 27 and 28. "A high-level team of the Ministry, including Secretary, will visit Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Team will be in Srinagar on 27 and 28 August, from there the team will also visit Kargil, Leh and Jammu. It will explore areas where development has not reached."

NH-5 blocked after heavy rainfall in HP's Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Aug 26 (ANI): National Highway-5 has been blocked in Badhal village of Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district due to heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall took place after cloud burst in the region. Several roads, houses and vehicles have been damaged. Police official said, "I inspected the area, there is a lot of damage, due to which NH is completely blocked. People are stuck on both sides."

Encounter breaks out between police and criminals in UP's Baghpat

Village girl from J-K's Rajouri cracks AIIMS entrance

Rajouri (J-K), Aug 26 (ANI): In a major first, Irmm Shamim, a resident of Dhanore village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) has cracked the entrance exam of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), despite living in an environment which is not conducive to studies. Shamim said she never thought of qualifying for the AIIMS exam, but was sure of getting good results of her hard work. Shamim gave out a message to other youngsters that nothing is impossible, and one only needs hard work to achieve their goals.

Jharkhand woman allegedly tonsured on suspicion of having illicit relationship with nephew

Koderma (Jharkhand), Aug 26 (ANI): A woman in Dengodih village of Jharkhand's Koderma was allegedly stripped and her hair was chopped off on the decision of panchayat on suspicion of her having an illicit relationship with her nephew. The alleged incident took place a day after she filed a complaint against her 22-year-old nephew for taking advantage of her. While speaking to ANI, police official said, "A total of 11 accused have been identified in this case and a case has been registered against them. No person has been arrested so far. Investigation is underway."

Your network carrier may be slowing down online videos, says study

New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI): If you have been experiencing slower video streaming on your mobile phone, you are not alone. Researchers at Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts found that network carriers throttle online video irrespective of time, location or network congestion. Their study found all four main US carriers, AT-T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon to be throttling, Cnet reports. YouTube was throttled most often while Vimeo was throttled least often. All carriers throttled YouTube and Netflix. Meanwhile, AT-T said that it doesn't throttle, discriminate or degrade network performance based on content.

Use of digital technology not linked to mental health says, study

New Delhi, Aug 26 (ANI): A recent study has revealed that spending more time on smartphones is in no way related to mental health. The study was published in the journal Clinical Psychological Science. The study tracked young adolescents on their smartphones to test whether more time spent using digital technology was linked to worse mental health outcomes. The researchers found little evidence of longitudinal or daily linkages between digital technology use and adolescent mental health. The study surveyed more than 2,000 youth and then intensively tracked a subsample of nearly 400 teens on their smartphones multiple times a day for two weeks. The researchers collected reports of mental health symptoms from the adolescents three times a day and they also reported on their daily technology usage each night.
