Male (Maldives), May 12 (ANI): INS Kesari on May 12 dispatched 580 tonnes of essential food items to Maldives in global fight against COVID-19. Countries including Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles had requested India for assistance in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chandigarh, May 12 (ANI): Chandigarh Administration Advisor Manoj Parida informed administration have contained the zone after an outbreak in Bapu Dham area. "We kept our numbers to minimum for almost 1.5 months, after which there was outbreak in Bapu Dham, a slum-like area. Out of 150 active cases, 100 are from 10 houses in the area. We have contained the zone and people are being treated," said Parida.
New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): In light of resumption of passenger train services, Director General (DG) Railway Protection Force informed that thorough screenings of passengers will be done at stations keeping in mind coronavirus situation. "Health screening of passengers will be conducted at the stations. We have also requested them to travel light as no coolies are available at stations. We will be handing over the data of each and every passenger to their state government," said Arun Kumar, DG of Railway Protection Force.
New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh on May 12 has been discharged from AIIMS, Delhi on medical advice, confirms AIIMS official. He was admitted to AIIMS on May 10 with complaint of chest pain. Previously Singh had undergone two heart bypass surgeries.

New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Reviewing coronavirus situation in Delhi, Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed about the numbers. "13 deaths and 406 new positive cases were reported in Delhi in 24 hours till midnight y'day, taking the total number of cases to 7639 and deaths to 86. 383 people have been cured/discharged taking the total number of recovered cases to 2512," said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain."The doubling rate in Delhi is 11 days now. The doubling rate had once reached 3 or 4 days. If the doubling rate reaches 18, 20 or 25, then we will be more comfortable," he further added.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 12 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the 5th meeting on COVID-19 via video-conferencing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking on this, CM Soren said that in a short span, he urged prime minister to simplify MGNREGA and amend tax system. "I put all my points that we need to take more steps to help the workers, simplify MGNREGA wages, amend the tax system, help increase the wealth collection power of the state, keep employment and save lives of people. New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded lower during early hours on Tuesday tracking weakness in Asian markets as investors became anxious about the second wave of coronavirus infections in China. At 10:15 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was down by 561 points or 1.78 per cent at 31,000 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 169 points or 1.83 per cent at 9,070. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the negative zone with Nifty auto down by 2.8 per cent, private bank by 2.5 per cent, PSU bank by 2.4 per cent and metal by 1.9 per cent. Among stocks, shares of the country's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki tumbled by 4.4 per cent to Rs 4,718.95 per unit. Eicher Motors and Hero MotoCorp skidded by 2.9 per cent each. Metal majors Tata Steel lost by 3.7 per cent and JSW Steel by 3.4 per cent while home finance major HDFC dropped by 3.9 per cent and private sector lender HDFC Bank by 3.3 per cent. Heavy security has been deployed outside the station to ensure social distancing norms are being followed. "I am from Bhopal, I was doing job at Manesar and was stuck here due to lockdown. I booked my ticket online and I am going home today," said a passenger. Another passenger said, "I am really happy, it was very difficult to get ticket, but now finally I am going home".

Roopa Parveen, who hails from Gajanur village travels to Thirthahalli taluk daily to attend patients at Jayachamarajendra Government Hospital. She has also earned praises from Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. "The taluk hospital is surrounded by many villages, people need our service. My seniors had asked me to take leave but I want to serve the people. I work six hours a day. CM called me up and appreciated my dedication, he also suggested me to rest," said Roopa Parveen Rao.
