Several stranded workers in Delhi were seen walking on foot to their native places. "We don't have money to buy food, what will we do?" asks a migrant. Ministry of Home Affairs on May 01 had issued an order to extend nationwide lockdown by two more weeks from May 4 with certain relaxations.
Newark (USA), May 11 (ANI): Indian passengers arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport to board the Air India flight to Mumbai. The flight will later fly to Ahmedabad. Thermal screening and security checks of passengers also took place at airport. Several stranded Indians have been able to fly back to their native country amid coronavirus pandemic through Central Government's Vande Bharat Mission.
Surat (Gujarat), May 11 (ANI): A 'Shramik special' train carrying around 1200 passengers departed from Gujarat's Surat on May 10 amid coronavirus lockdown. The passengers will reach Uttarakhand's Kathgodam on May 11. The information of passengers was provided by Uttarakhand Chief Minister's Office (CMO). There are total 7796 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Gujarat. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 41, 472 with 2109 deaths in India.
Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 11 (ANI): Amid the coronavirus lockdown, a wedding ceremony took place in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on May 10. The couple followed precautionary measure while performing the rituals. They were wearing face masks and face shield. The 'varmala' was also sanitized. The couple thanked district administration for the permission.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh), May 11 (ANI): The infection of coronavirus has now reached in the Municipal Corporation of Indore. One officer and three employees of the health department under the Municipal Corporation have been hit by it. All of them were serving in this epidemic. Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Praveen Jadia said, "A food safety officer and three employees of the Municipal Corporation has been reported positive for coronavirus." Total number of 3,614 coronavirus cases has been reported in the state so far. 215 people in the state have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

Back in March, Apple surprised everyone with cursor support in iPadOS back in March, and developers are now racing to update their iPad apps. The flight repatriated Indian nationals under 'Vande Bharat Mission' from aboard. They will be screened and quarantined under the coronavirus pandemic guidelines.
Panaji (Goa), May 11 (ANI): A special train carrying 1,055 passengers left from Goa for Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur on May 10. Indian Railways is running special trains for stranded people in several states to send them back to their home state in view of coronavirus lockdown.
Mumbai, May 11 (ANI): An Air India flight carrying 241 Indian nationals from Philippines's Manila has arrived in Mumbai. This is the first flight from Philippines for repatriation of Indians in the wake of coronavirus lockdown. The repatriation of Indians from abroad is taking place under 'Vande Bharat Mission'.

"Total number of 375 'Shramik' special trains has dropped around 4.5 lakh migrant workers to their home state so far. Railways to run more 'Shramik' special trains for migrant workers in coming days," informed Chairman of Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav. Thousands of migrant workers are stranded in different cities due to coronavirus lockdown.
New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): In a bid to understand the growing use of e-cigarettes among youth, researchers have analysed the factors that influence adolescents to use it frequently. In the Public Health Nursing study of 1,556 adolescents in Korea, 55.1 per cent reported that they had used e-cigarettes for 6 to 30 days in the past month and 44.9 per cent used them from 1 to 5 days. The belief of e-cigarettes being less harmful than tobacco cigarettes is one of the major factors behind the growing use. The other reasons include the easy availability of e-cigarettes, and that they have various added flavours to it.Also, frequent users were more likely to have a higher weekly allowance, less likely to live with family, and more likely to be exposed to second-hand smoke at home. "Due to the characteristics of e-cigarettes, such as ease of purchase and the addition of taste and flavouring, the risk of continued use in adolescents is particularly high," said corresponding author Hyunmi Son, PhD
Ambala (Haryana), May 11 (ANI): The social distancing norms failed during repatriation of migrant workers in Haryana. Total number of 267 migrant workers was sent back to their home state, Uttar Pradesh by 7special buses from Haryana's Ambala. "Face masks and food items were provided to migrant workers for their journey," said an official. However, '2-gaj doori'- social distancing was not maintained here.According to the global health guidelines, social distancing is an important precautionary measure to contain coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, 70 migrant workers are still waiting for their turn to go back to their home state.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 11 (ANI): Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren provided a rickshaw, an assistance amount and mask to Rajkumar Ravidas, who was living a life of hardship. The Chief Minister said that the state government is sensitive towards the poor and needy. If any such crisis arises, immediate actions will be taken to provide assistance to them. The Chief Minister also encouraged him and said that this rickshaw will enable Ravidas to earn and support his family. Rajkumar Ravidas lives near St. Xavier's College in Ranchi. His rickshaw was stolen a few days ago. In such a situation, he was earning as a rag-picker and living a life of hardship. Also due to lockdown, he had no means of earning.
Jhalawar (Rajasthan), May 11 (ANI): The workers of Rajasthan Textile Mills staged protest outside the factory in Jhalawar. Labourers also pelted stones at the factory gate, vandalized CCTV cameras and lights including vehicles. Police reached at the site and controlled the situation. Jhalawar's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rajesh Yadav said, "There was some dispute between the management and labourers over salary payment. Labourers said that they were not given full salary".

Ludhiana (Punjab), May 10 (ANI): After almost two-month break due to coronavirus lockdown, textile companies in Ludhiana resumed their operations even as threat of COVID-19 still looms large. Ludhiana Knitwear and Hosiery Association chairman Vinod Thapar said the textile industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus-induced lockdown, and even though the business is slowly taking off, it is still going through tough times. "The industry is going through tough times but we are making our best efforts to ensure that migrant workers don't go home," Thapar said.
Muzaffarpur (Bihar), May 10 (ANI): As many as 160 migrant workers staying at a quarantine facility in Muzaffarpur on Sunday protested and demanded COVID-19 testing and sanitisation in the facility, after three people tested positive for the deadly virus. So far, Bihar has reported 591 COVID-19 positive cases.
Mumbai, May 10 (ANI): Ahead of Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, BJP leader Ashish Shelar on May 10 said the party has no issues in agreeing to contest the polls unopposed if all major parties follow suit. He said, "If every (major) party agrees on unopposed elections to Maharashtra Legislative Council, BJP will also agree. BJP has fielded 4 candidates according to its strength. If unopposed elections are to happen, the CM would have to take the Congress along." Elections in the state are scheduled to be held on May 21.

The unique step has been taken to contain the spread of COVID-19. Speaking on this, Bhopal SP Shailendra Singh said that they are taking all precautions to minimise chances of contracting COVID-19. Police is keeping strict vigil at the checkpoints to avoid casual movements.
