New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): While the national capital is under lockdown to contain the spread of deadly COVID-19, the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) in South Delhi 's Navjiwan Vihar has geared up to take care of the senior citizens, who are living alone, by providing basic essentials to them. "We are getting services like newspapers, vegetables and other essentials at the doorstep. Shops are also open without any hassle. Grocery shops are also open inside the locality. Medicine needs are told to the secretary and she gives us allopathic as well as homoeopathic medicines," Krishan Bhatia, a senior citizen living in South Delhi's Navjiwan Vihar, told ANI. RWA in Navjiwan Vihar has 270 households and around 1,100 residents in which 20 per cent are senior citizens and 26 are those elderly who live alone. Howrah (WB), May 03 (ANI): Amid lockdown in which people are following the guidelines by the government, a rally was organised by police and local TMC leaders, which defied social distancing norms as several people came out on roads and participated in the rally. The rally was organised in Tikiapara area of Howrah as part of 'Howrah Operation Covid Zero' which has been initiated to convert Howrah into a green zone. ACP Central Division Alok Dasgupta, who was leading the rally in Howrah said, "We had visited the area with volunteers of 'Howrah Operation Covid Zero' to hold a campaign to spread awareness about COVID-19. Meanwhile, more people joined us and we asked them to go to their homes."
Barwani (MP), May 03 (ANI): Scores of migrant workers blocked the National Highway 3 in Barwani on May 03 and pelted stones at police personnel. Barwani District Collector, Amit Tomar said, "We have held talks with them after which highway has been cleared. 3 police personnel have received minor injuries."

Jaipur (Rajasthan), May 03 (ANI): Brave family of Colonel Ashutosh Sharma mourned his death. Colonel Sharma, who was the commanding officer of the 21 Rashtriya Rifles unit, lost his life in operation in Handwara on May 2. He had been twice awarded gallantry medals for exemplary bravery in counter-terrorist missions. Army persons, who lost their lives in the Handwara encounter included Major Anuj Sood, Naik Rajesh and Lance Naik Dinesh and a Jammu and Kashmir police official. Two terrorists were also killed in the operation by the security forces in the remote location of Handwara.

Lucknow (UP), May 03(ANI): Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi announced that the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to provide Rs 50 lakhs as compensation to kin of Colonel Ashutosh Sharma, who lost his life in Handwara encounter. "Along with this, government will also provide government job to one of his family members," he added.

Aralia (West Tripura District), May 03 (ANI): Amid coronavirus lockdown, an automobile mechanic in Tripura has prepared an electric bike keeping in mind social distancing norms. Automobile mechanic, Partha Saha said, "The bike showcases that during lockdown if you want to get out of the house then you must follow social distancing." He has modified a regular, petrol-run motorcycle by replacing the petrol engine with a 750-Watt DC motor and a 48-volt battery. He used bicycle seats in the front and rear at a one-metre distance. On a single charge, the motorcycle can run 80 kms and he used bicycle seats in the front and rear at a one-metre distance to give the message of social distancing. Partha thinks that this attempt might hopefully promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' program and encourage entrepreneurship.
New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 3 informed that the Delhi government will not be able to sustain the lockdown for long as the economy is in peril. "The revenue has fallen from Rs 3500 crores in April month of previous years to Rs 300 crores this year. How will the government function?," said Kejriwal. Centre has extended the lockdown for two more weeks.

Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu), May 03(ANI): Corona outbreak and nationwide lockdown has affected the fishermen in Rameshwaram to great extent. Fishermen are unable to repair their boats due to lack of spare parts amid lockdown. The annual 60-day fishing ban, which begins annually on April 15 to protect marine fisheries, will begin on April 15 when fishermen will work on repairing their boats and maintaining fishing equipments, including their nets. Workers are now unable to work as curfew is in effect. Some people are employed, but they are unable to work on the boats as there are no parts to repair it. Fishermen have demanded the government to take steps to open lath workshops, wooden spare part shops to repair the boats and to exempt curfew period for workers to work.

Mumbai, May 03(ANI): Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) commenced the work of constructing a 1000 bedded COVID-19 hospital at MMRDA ground in Bandra Kurla Complex. The MMRDA on the instruction of the government of Maharashtra has stepped up to construct 1000 beds hospital to provide quarantine and isolation facilities for non-critical COVID-19 patients. It will have the facilities of pathology labs to conduct general blood tests of patients. Safety and cleanliness will be on utmost priority with sewage and bio-degradable waste disposable systems in place. Also, dedicated units with kitchen facility will be built for doctors and health staff like in regular hospitals.
Panchkula (Haryana), May 03 (ANI): Retired Brigadier Chandrakant Sood expressed his emotions by saying that nation should honour the young bloods, who lost their lives for the nation in whatever way they can. Chandrakant Sood is a father of Major Anuj Sood, who lost his live in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara. "He has made a supreme sacrifice. It was part of his duty and what he was trained for. I feel sad for his wife as they just got married 3-4 months back. He was meant to save lives," said the proud father. Five Army personnel were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara on May 2.

Handwara (J-K), May 03 (ANI): At least five people injured on May 03 after an unexploded shell went off when they were cleaning a drainage in Ahgam village of Handwara, Jammu - Kashmir. Handwara District Hospital official said, "Out of the five people, two are children. Condition of three patients is stable."
