Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 02(ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown, more than 300 migrant labourers gathered at Velachery Checkpost and demanded help for their return to their home hometowns. These migrant labourers have been stranded for over a month. They demanded that the police should allow them to leave for home. They asked that if they are not allowed to travel by vehicles or any other public transport, then they should at least be allowed to walk. Police reached the spot and collected the basic information of all the migrants and assured them that they are looking into the matter and they will soon be sent to their native places.
Kanpur (UP), May 02 (ANI): Amid coronavirus scare, a group of doctors of Hallet Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur has performed dance to boost the morale of COVID-19 patients. Through their dance moves, they were giving preventive measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Lucknow (UP), May 02 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi on May 2 held a press conference over states preparedness to fight COVID-19. During the press conference, he informed that the first special train for the state has started from Nashik today and around 845 labourers and workers have boarded. The train will reach Lucknow tomorrow. Recently, Centre has announced to run special trains for the migrant labourers and stranded students.
Rajkot (Gujarat), May 02(ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown, a school in Rajkot's Pardi area was opened today and around 100 students attended the school to take their test results. Though it is officially announced that no school, college or any educational institute are allowed to open in the lockdown, yet Swami Vivekanand government school in Pardi village in Rajkot district was opened on May 2. The Rajkot collector and district development officer have asked for the inquiry. Rajkot Zilla Panchayat Samiti Chairman K D Padariya has assured that investigation is underway and the person responsible for it will be punished.
Patna (Bihar), May 02 (ANI): Migrant labourers arrived at Danapur Railway Station on May 02 by 'Shramik Special' train. The train carried over 1200 stranded labourers from Rajasthan after the Centre's decision to run special trains for them. Several trains from different parts of the country have been started to make sure migrant labourers reach their home safely.
New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): The Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar informed that total number of 38 COVID-19 positive cases reported at INS Angre in Mumbai so far. While talking to ANI, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar said, "12 navy officers have already been discharged from hospital while 26 are undergoing treatment. There have been no positive case on any of our warships and submarines."
Indore (MP), May 02 (ANI): At least 18 people were found travelling in the mixer tank of a concrete mixer truck by police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh amid coronavirus lockdown. Traffic DSP Umakant Chaudhary informed that these people were travelling from Maharashtra to Lucknow. He said, "They were travelling from Maharashtra to Lucknow. The truck has been sent to a police station and an FIR has been registered".
New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): The Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar informed that they have kept 14 warships ready for the evacuation of Indians from Gulf countries in the wake coronavirus pandemic. While talking to ANI, Vice Admiral G Ashok Kumar said, "We have kept 14 warships ready for this (evacuation from Gulf countries). Four of them are in the Western Naval Command, four in the Eastern Command and three in the Southern Command. We have a number of warships ready".
Jaipur (Rajasthan), May 2 (ANI): Reviewing the lockdown and movement of migrant workers in the high-level meeting, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that after the strong demand of the State Government, the Central Government has given permission to operate special trains for the movement of migrants and workers. It is heartening that the train has started operating from Rajasthan. Now, officials should ensure better arrangement with better coordination for easy and quick movement of migrants workers.CM Gehlot said that the State Government is constantly coordinating with the Central Government and other State Governments for this challenging task of safe movement of migrants. Raipur (Chhattisgarh), May 02 (ANI): The Chhattisgarh government has started evacuating stranded migrant workers from other states. Chhattisgarh's Nodal Officer Sonmani Borah said, "We have received information of about 1,09,000 people but we cannot estimate how many of them will return, that number could be larger because many people from our state are working and living elsewhere. We are making an assessment," said Chhattisgarh's Nodal Officer Sonmani Borah. "Screening and detailing will be done at entry points of state borders. After screening, the labourers will be kept in quarantine in their respective districts," Nodal Officer further added. The Chhattisgarh government is also coordinating with other states to evacuate stranded migrant workers. The nation is under lockdown till May 17 in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Replying to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on raising privacy issue on Aarogya Setu aap, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that Aarogya Setu app is being preferred worldwide as it curbs false information. "Worldwide this app is being preferred. It curbs false information and you also know if there is a COVID-19 positive person in your vicinity. Jhajjar (Haryana), May 02 (ANI): A Tablighi Jamaat member Arshad Ahmed, who was quarantined at AIIMS dedicated COVID-19 centre in Haryana after he was tested positive, shared his experience. He lauded the facilities provided by the medical staff and said that every individual must cooperate with the authorities and follow government guidelines. Pune (Maharashtra), May 02 (ANI): Around 74 buses from Maharashtra brought back stranded students from Rajasthan's Kota on May 01. The students were stuck in Kota due to nationwide lockdown. All students underwent health screening at Swargate Bus Stand and they were advised home quarantine. There are total 11,506 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra.
