New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in the national capital on May 02 amid coronavirus pandemic, the Health Minister of Delhi, Satyendar Jain said, "There are total 3738 positive cases of coronavirus in Delhi so far. Till now, 1167 have been cured and recovered from COVID-19 pandemic. All the 11 districts of Delhi are in 'red zone'. Till May 17, Delhi will be in red zone only."

Lockdown improves water quality of Agnitheertham Sea in Rameswaram

Rameswaram (TN), May 02 (ANI): The Agnitheertham Sea in Rameswaram naturally cleaned amid COVID-19 lockdown. Less human activities have also contributed to the recent improvement in the quality of sea water. Rameswaram is a pilgrimage site where thousands of devotees come to worship every day. COVID-19 lockdown: AMU students board buses to reach their hometowns

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), May 02 (ANI): Around 30 students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) were sent to their hometowns by 20 buses of Uttar Pradesh roadways amid coronavirus pandemic. The students were stuck in Aligarh due to nationwide lockdown. All the buses were sanitised before sending the students to their respective homes. All the students have also gone through medical check-up before boarding the buses. Masks and sanitisers were also given to the students for safety purpose. There are total 2281 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 25,148 with 1152 deaths in India.

Giant stone art in Indore salutes police's efforts in COVID-19 battle

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), May 2 (ANI): Indore-based stone artist Wajid Khan brought alive the memories of police officer Devendra Chandravanshi who died fighting COVID-19 battle. He made a massive stone art in Indore to pay tribute to police personnel. Corona warriors have been working round the clock selflessly. Besides the duty, their generous acts by celebrating birthdays, helping people have also made headlines in past. "There were incidents where stones were pelted on police personnel, so I decided to make art out of stones to pay tribute," said Wajid Khan, the artist.

Hailstorm destroys apple plantation in Shimla

Karnataka Police install disinfectant tunnel at central prison in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi (Karnataka), May 02 (ANI): Amid coronavirus scare, Kalaburagi city Police installed disinfectant tunnel near the central prison. Sodium Hypochlorite solution is sprayed for a few second every time a person enters the tunnel. Hand sanitizers are also kept for visitors and staff at the central prison. Lockdown has been extended to May 17 in view of coronavirus. But govt has allowed limited number of activities to function from May 04.

COVID-19: Security tightened at Delhi-Gurugram border amid lockdown

Gurugram (Haryana), May 02 (ANI): The police personnel checked vehicles at Delhi-Gurugram border amid coronavirus lockdown on May 02. Individual inter-state and inter-district movements have been curtailed in Gurugram, including media persons, police and doctors. It has been done in a bid to contain coronavirus cases. COVID-19 patient in Surat gets grand surprise on his birthday

West Bengal only state where centre's COVID-19 team faced problems: Governor Dhankhar

COVID-19: HCQ production raised to 30 crore tablets, 16 crore tablets released in market, says govt

New Delhi, May 01 (ANI): India has increased production of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) to 30 crore tablets from 12.23 crore tablets, the government said on May 01. Chairman of Empowered Group-3, PD Vaghela said, "Production of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has increased to 30 crore tablets from 12.23 crore tablets. A total of 16 crore HCQ tablets released into the market." Even as the drug's efficacy is not yet clinically proven, HCQ - an anti-malarial drug is said to be effective in treatment for COVID-19 patients. India has imported HCQ to United States of America and other nations. Centre has created 11 Empowered Group in the view of COVID-19 pandemic. Empowered Group-3 has responsibility to ensure availability of essential medical supplies.

COVID-19: 20 arrested in connection with attack during medical team's visit in Kanpur

Kanpur (UP), May 01 (ANI): Amid nationwide lockdown, when health workers and police are fighting the pandemic at the forefront, some lockdown violators are attacking and pelting stones at them. A similar incident has been recorded in Kanpur's Chaman Ganj area, where medical team has been attacked by the locals. Police have arrested 20 people in this connection. According to Kanpur DM Dr. Braham Deo Ram Tiwari, 10 people have been arrested by police by identifying them from the spot and 10 people have been arrested today. Lawsuit has been filed in NSA, he added. The incident took place on April 29 when a medical team visited the neighborhood to bring a patient, who tested positive for COVID-19. UP has recorded 2203 confirmed cases and 39 deaths till now.

Hit by lockdown, stranded migrant workers in Bengaluru find trouble paying for bus tickets

Bengaluru, May 01 (ANI): Stranded migrants workers in Bengaluru are facing another hardship after getting permission to return back to their hometown. Migrant workers said they don't have enough money to buy even a bus ticket as lockdown has tremendously hit their livelihoods. A migrant worker, who used to work in a private company said, "I have no income since 2 months, I don't have enough money to go back to my hometown. They are asking too much money. Government should give us some discount." the Home Ministry allowed movement of stranded migrant workers between states on April 29.
